First time poster alert!!! I've just bought a "new" second hand G4 iMac that has system OS X loaded (V. 10.1.4). I've been using Macs for many years and have gone through all the sysytem 6's through to 9.2......so my brain is having to try and get itself

For those that came in late.... Just got a second hand G4 with OS X (Version 10.1.4) after many years of system 6 through 9.2 So I'm still wandering aimlessly trying to get my head around the new OS....

To continue the saga..I was also advised to stop Spotlight by making the entire disk private. I did it and have had three fast successful start ups. It's a pity if this is the solution because I can't use the features I paid for. But perhaps upgrade OS 10.3 or 4 or 5 will fix ...
