A quick google search shows some hacks are available to kill the zone

CDs with labels no longer mounting07 Jul 2005 12:26 GMT12
I am having trouble mounting on the desktop cds that are 2 years old --
I put stomper labels on them at the time when they were trendy and I
now wish I didn't. The CD brand is Princo, a cheaper type of CD, but
other Princo CDs fom around that time without labels still read okay.

Modems on older iMacs05 Jul 2005 14:07 GMT1
I was wondering if my problem is endemic to the older imams. I have a 350 MHz Mac
running OS9.1. The internal 56k modem seems to have a time of it keeping up to even
my basic dailup needs. It seems to drop out quite a lot, and usually requires a
couple of goes just to connect. As I ...

mp3 player question04 Jul 2005 10:28 GMT3
This is not specifically a Mac question but my experience is that Mac
owners know more about most things than anyone else! I have a little 1
gig mp3 player bought on ebay. It ran perfectly for some time and all
its other functions even now are fine, except that I can't get it to
Dead battery04 Jul 2005 06:43 GMT1
A lot of the second hand G3 Powerbook's on eBay need new battery packs
as they don't hold a charge.
If you run a Powerbook on mains all the time with a dead battery, will it do
any damage.
OS904 Jul 2005 02:07 GMT2
If I never use OS 9, I've got 10.3.9, do I need to keep classic on my
