What laptop $200..?20 Feb 2005 07:43 GMT1
Howdy,
Am looking at buying a 2nd hand powerbook, with around $200 budget...
I was looking at something like a 1400c, which I've seen go for around
$100... but then recently noticed the G3 generation laptops selling for
OSX 10.3 and Epson scanner20 Feb 2005 01:34 GMT3
When I installed OSX 10.3 on my flat screen iMac and tried to use an
Epson 1260 Photo scanner, it would not connect. It worked fine in OSX
10.1.
Now I get a message that says "Cannot find scanner on bus".
CDMA phones that talk to Macs?19 Feb 2005 13:18 GMT1
Is there a cdma phone that will pass data to a mac via cable. I understand
that there is no cdma phone with bluetooth because of frequency conflicts.

I am selling a friend my old 40gig HD that I have taken out of my
Mac7300 (IDE Card/IDE drive)
On this drive I have a large number of client files - Court reports,
clients medical info, therapy session transcriptions etc - so I need to

Does anyone know whether the dock from a gen-3 15 GB will suit a gen-4

Linking 2 macs18 Feb 2005 23:51 GMT7
I've never done this before, so all suggestions welcome.
I want to link a 333Mhz iMac to a beige G3 in order to transfer files. I've been
told it's as simple as linking them via ethernet and turning on file sharing.  My
questions are:
Bizarre crashing sound on 8100AV18 Feb 2005 11:34 GMT5
Wow, this is weird...
I use an 8100AV running 8.6 as a Localtalk bridge to a Laserjet 4MP. Had
it since new, never a problem.
It crashed this morning, then on subsequent startups this is what I got:
iPhoto 517 Feb 2005 06:38 GMT4
I have very many genealogy photos on my old Intel PC  (Which I will call my
PC).  I have scanned hundreds of  old photos which I store in folders such
as 1850, 1899, ie the year they were taken.  I have moved these over my home
network to my (first ever Mac), and when I try to ...
Broadband in Canberra mac-friendly16 Feb 2005 12:40 GMT8
Is there anyone on here from Canberra? Or someone who knows about
broadband services in the capital?  I'm trying to track down a reliable
mac-friendly broadband provider in the ACT, to recommend to my
father-in-law. He's a relative computing newbie, whom I've managed to
56k modem and 550016 Feb 2005 01:19 GMT3
Was an internal 56k apple modem ever produced for the 5500 all-in-ones?
Is anything compatible with it (that's Austel approved?). I don't seem
to have found anything by Googling.

iPhoto crashes15 Feb 2005 01:50 GMT4
Hey guys, I run iPhoto 5.0.1 and whenever I try and import images it will
just crash out.  I have about 15,500 images in my library, and have been
running iPhoto since 1.0, upgrading my library with each new version.  With
a fresh library I can import images fine.
Mac compatible USB modems other than Swann/Macsurfer14 Feb 2005 05:22 GMT4
Hi all, just wondering if you know of any USB external modems that are
compatible with MacOS X 10.3 or higher?  The Macsurfer ones by Swann only
work with 10.2 or older which is no good.
Thanks for any help :)
Crashing browsers13 Feb 2005 21:40 GMT4
I can't work this out, and I'd really appreciate some fresh ideas on it.
On this computer (iMac 500 mhz, about 4 years old, Sys 10.3.7) there is
about an 80% chance that any browser will crash suddenly, and when I
open another one, it usually does so as well. This never happens on ...
