1GHz 17 PB vs 1GHz 15 PB & PB rumours17 Jul 2003 09:36 GMT1
Anyone know how much faster the 17PBs are compared with the same clock speed
15s?
Also, does anyone know what the latest rumours are re updated powerbooks?
The resellers seem to be all out of 15" PBs, which does sound like they're
Another stupid question (screen res)17 Jul 2003 06:03 GMT6
When my Apple cinema display screen is in 1680-1050
resolution, everything is just too small to be comfortable. When I change
it to 1344-840, it loses its sharpness and the letters, images, etc are
slightly furry.

Getting email with my own domain name16 Jul 2003 14:35 GMT2
I have my own domain and would like to have my own multiple email
addresses (for personal use) that end in that domain instead of my ISP's.
Is this possible without running my own mail server? I mean, are their
people in Australia offering this kind of service for not too much ...
Defragmenting McIntosh Computer16 Jul 2003 12:21 GMT5
First, I am not a computer whiz, so my question may be stupid (wouldn't
be the first time) but I have been told that the only stupid question is
the one you don't ask.
I have been told by IBM users that they defragment their hard drive and
Anyone got a G4 motherboard?15 Jul 2003 14:29 GMT3
I've got a severely over-capitalised Beige G3 here that I've got running
 OS X Server (it's in a nice rack-mount box, G4 500 CPU, ATA 133 card,
USB 2 and Firewire) and was kind of dismayed to read that Panther drops
support for the Beige machines. It's upgrade time.
Palm Desktop 4.1 problem15 Jul 2003 13:59 GMT1
Out of the blue today my Palm Desktop app has started playing up. It seems
to work fine in every way, except when I try to drag an event to a new time
or day the app just hangs. Even then, it doesn't really hang; the dock
icon's menu displays all the usual options (not "application ...

St George Internet Banking & Safari15 Jul 2003 00:54 GMT5
Has anyone managed to get St George internet banking working properly
with Safari? It comes up on the screen, but only fills a small
proportion of the window in the middle, making the buttons overlap &
some impossible to use. Given the fact that it no longer works with
Need cable modem14 Jul 2003 04:11 GMT7
I'm with Telstra BP Cable and it looks like my modem has died. I
have a Telstra service called booked for Monday morning and, if it is
dead, they'll supply a new one for $268 ($189 if I sign an 18 mth.
contract).
Icons & sounds13 Jul 2003 12:26 GMT1
Just bought a G4. Happy so far. Can someone give me source for some
interesting desktop icons and some sounds to brighten up my system messages?
With my old Mac (a 7200/120 using system 7.5.5 - don't snigger!) I could
easily change desktop icons. Can I do it in OS X?

My fiancee has just bought a PowerBook G4 12" to complement my iBook
Dual USB 500. I've upgraded both our iTunes to 4.0.1. I've got 2
