Save as web location18 Jun 2008 15:41 GMT5
I would like to save the current page I am viewing in Safari as a web
location, but I don't see any menu option for it.
I have tried copying an existing web locastion and pasting a URL in it
using TextEdit or Property List Editor but when I try to open it I get
Failure of Time Capsule18 Jun 2008 15:31 GMT12
I'm using a firewire connected Verbatim hard disc for Time Capsule
backup but every time it tries to back up it says failed. Is there
something different that needs to be done with Firewire drives? Options
settings seem to make no difference.
latest iCab release does web apps!18 Jun 2008 13:58 GMT3
get a web page with a game on it, or any active thing (curve plotter,
whatever); open it with iCab, choose "save as", select "web
application", you get a real universal binary application (although not
independent from internet if I understand correctly)
viewing files "by owner"18 Jun 2008 11:39 GMT3
I would like to view files "by owner" Is there any way I can sort by
owner. I heard you can do this through the command line. How do you
use the command line to get a listing of files by owner. Is there a
way to get a list by label like a list including subfolders. It would
Textedit / Bean queries18 Jun 2008 09:42 GMT4
I've found working with text on a light to medium gray background is
nice on the eyes.  So in Textedit, I changed the document color.  Saved
the changes and reopened it only to find it back with the white
background.  Did I do something wrong?
MS Word 2008/Textedit problems18 Jun 2008 09:38 GMT18
Using 10.4.11 Textedit to open some Word documents and am finding that
is often will not open them.  Yet others it opens fine.  Any idea how I
can convert hundreds of Word documents to open ok with Textedit?
Installing Adobe PSE 618 Jun 2008 05:29 GMT7
I just bought PSE 6 and tried following the installation directions,
but either I'm missing something or the instructions are deficient.
They say "Insert the installation disc and follow the on-screen
instructions", but all that happens is a new Finder window pops up,
Dumb question about application installs16 Jun 2008 16:06 GMT14
VERY new to MacOS here, and I am completely mystified by the behavior
of applications in general, and Office 2008 in particular.
Just to stick with Office 2008 ... I put in the DVD and started the
install, entered my (admin acct) password, and installed the software.
Mail.app "Bounce" Option16 Jun 2008 14:20 GMT33
For the past few weeks I've been getting sometimes up to 30 or 40 spams
a day, they have nothing in the "from" field the "to" field or the
"subject" field. I note that I get 20 of these and then later in the
day I get about 20 actual spams with subjects and such. It occured to
Syncing files between computers16 Jun 2008 08:11 GMT4
I've been using subversion to keep the documents on different computers in
sync with each other. This works fairly well but I'm currently checking to
see if there is a better way to do it, I know of other VCS's like Mercury and
git but perhaps there is a better more Mac like way ...
The Dock keeps returning in QT's full screen mode16 Jun 2008 07:23 GMT21
QuickTime Player doesn't go out of full screen mode, yet the damn Dock
keeps reappearing randomly. Going out of full screen and back in hides
it again, but it's a real PITA.
Anyone know what might be causing this?
Install OS16 Jun 2008 04:42 GMT2
I forgot the password to login on my laptop. I went to an
electronic store and they sold me the new OS for it and said itt was
easy to install. It still boots up to the login screen. Is there a way
to get the cd to boot up first?
Quicken 2007 Mac & ETF's16 Jun 2008 00:00 GMT1
I¹ve used Quicken for Mac for 10 years, and I¹ve had very few
issues/problems with the software.  I have the latest Quicken 2007 update
installed on my original ³Snowball² iMac, which is running OS 10.4.11.
Right now I¹m having trouble getting historical prices on three ETF¹S that
Saving partially finished posts in MT-NewsWatcher?15 Jun 2008 21:30 GMT10
I'd like to initiate several partially completed MT-NewsWatcher posts,
working in a certain group to which they'll all be addressed, then save
these drafts away to a folder in a form where I can dbl-click any of
them and have them open as draft posts in MTNW with the Newsgroups: ...
Recharge an iPod away from a computer?15 Jun 2008 18:25 GMT10
At this late date, I am just starting to use an iPod. An important
question looms: Can the iPod be recharged if you are not near a
computer? If not, how does one travel with the machine? Take a
portable computer with you? I don't spot that Apple makes a portable
