40tude gone wonky23 Jun 2008 18:45 GMT2
I just now tried to post a reply in another thread, and 40tude has decided
to post my many of the NGs I subscribe to instead of just the one I'm
replying to. Why does it want to reply to all kinds of groups when I only
want to reply to the one? Is there a way to control this?
Text clipping in Word23 Jun 2008 17:21 GMT9
It's been a while since I have dragged text out of applications onto the
Desktop to create clippings but was surprised that when I did this from
Word (2004) it does not create a text clipping but a picture clipping.
Is this normal behaviour? I notice that if I do the same thing from
Sparse Bundle23 Jun 2008 17:14 GMT2
I created a sparse bundle, with a start size of 100 mb, then started
to copy files to it.  It ran out of space before I was able to copy
everything to it.
I thought sparse bundles automatically expand in size.   Do I need to

MT-NewsWatcher question: auto-posting to two NGs23 Jun 2008 17:05 GMT8
The alt-fan.cecil-adams newsgroup is discussing whether to move over to
misc.facts.straight-dope in the wake of the decision by several ISPs to
discontinue access to the alt.* hierarchy. In anticipation of this move,
a number of AFCA posters have started cross-posting to MFSD. ...
HELP!  My Mac is Possessed!  Possible Virus!23 Jun 2008 16:34 GMT58
This just started today, so I'm wondering if there is a possible
"Friday the 13th" virus for Macs originating from some country with a
time zone ahead of the U. S.  At random times, the CD drive not only
opens by itself, but keeps opening and closing, sometimes partially

Pages '08 centering an image23 Jun 2008 01:06 GMT4
I want to center an in-line image in Pages '08 but cannot see how to
do that. I suppose I could make it a floating object (which does
appear to allow placement) and then move it as I add or delete text,
but that seems hokey.
Writing software that allows writing the the margins22 Jun 2008 23:13 GMT5
I'm writing a very long document (100 pages)  and what I would love to
be able to do is change right margin in teh wiord processing software,
so that I have a nice wide

This is too funny!22 Jun 2008 16:53 GMT19
Just playing on my iMac tonight, trying things out. Talk about ironic.
Leopard has this great new feature, Coverflow, which allows me to see my
files, well, you all already know. But it's not available in iPhoto, and
I can't access my photos from Finder to use it! So I can see ...
Docker Customizes Your Dock22 Jun 2008 16:37 GMT1

provides one with an almost elegant interface which provide one with a great
many options for customizing the dock such as overall kind, appearance,

Image sizes in Photoshop and Indesign don't match22 Jun 2008 04:02 GMT7
How can I get image sizes to match in Photoshop and Indesign?
For example, in Photoshop I just saved a TIFF at a three-inch width.
But when I placed the file into Indesign, the width is shown in the
Control panel as 2.659 inches.
VPN - Secureclient21 Jun 2008 23:25 GMT4
In order to be able to make a VPN-connection with the computer system of
my company, I needed to install Check Point Secureclient on my iMac at
home, together with a certificate.
I think I did everything right, as the SecureClient status window says
isync razr, missing isync palm tungsten e220 Jun 2008 23:09 GMT1
So, I finally gave up on Apple's isync today and
