iMovie can't open video file made from TV broadcast12 Mar 2008 00:16 GMT7
I recorded a TV program off the air onto a DVD by using a hardware DVD
recorder (no computer involvement).  Then I used Disk Utility
(v10.5.5) to copy the DVD to my iMac hard drive, where it is stored as
a .dmg file.  After expanding, the .dmg file creates a folder called
Trend? Can Register Only One User Per Machine11 Mar 2008 17:02 GMT6
I'm Outraged! Thoroughly Pissed!! But, perhaps I may also be a little
behind the times, so I thought I'd ask here.
It's been a long time since I bought a computer game online. When I
found a link pointing to a Monopoly game, for $20 I jumped and bought
MT-NewsWatcher old posts11 Mar 2008 16:59 GMT6
I was reading messages in MT-NewsWatcher, and wanted to find an older
message in a thread.   I tried clicking on what I saw in the header, but
that didn't work.
So I read the help, opened it again with Option and downloaded 2500
Ripping Audio from a DVD11 Mar 2008 16:16 GMT6
I have a DVD my botherer (er, brother, damn typos!) sent me of his trip
to Florida last year.  Anyway, there's a part of the audio track that I
want to get to and turn into an mp3 to torment him with (hey, it's a
good cause, right?).
How to use .icns icon files11 Mar 2008 16:08 GMT18
I found some folder icons that I want to use at
http://www.icondesigner.net/
Unfortunately, I don't know how to use them and the author doesn't
respond to my questions. The usual method of copying the icon you

Thanks!
Also, how about discussion sites in addition to this one?
"Safari" menu becomes useless11 Mar 2008 13:07 GMT21
After Safari 2.0.4 has been running for a while (a few days maybe) on
my 10.4.9 G4 system, all the items in the "Safari" menu quit working.
The menu looks the same as usual -- nothing is grayed out -- but if I
click on any items in it, nothing happens.
MTNW and unread counts11 Mar 2008 05:10 GMT15
I have MTNW set to show killed threads, and yet when I see the unread
count in the group list, and then open the group, the count drops by
some number.
For example, there were 5 messages in csmm and when I opened the group
Problems with Safari11 Mar 2008 00:42 GMT12
Howdy -
So as I was going through my morning internet routine, i visited
ESPN.com, only to have Safari stop responding.  I've tried visiting
that site again as well as WashingtonPost.com's Camera Works site,
MT-NewsWatcher Kill11 Mar 2008 00:30 GMT16
I was reading a newsgroup and someone created a bunch of idiot messages,
so I killfiled him.
I exited the newsgroup, re-opened it, and his messages were still there
in my unread window.
Mail sound question10 Mar 2008 19:23 GMT8
Does anyone know if when Mail is checking for new mail, there is any
visual indication that should be showing as the program is checking the
server (little spinning wheel in upper left is missing in Leopard
version) and is there a way to increase the beep sound when Mail
MPG in OS X10 Mar 2008 18:50 GMT13
I imported pictures and MPG's into Iphoto, but when I click on a movie, it opens Quick Time, but does not play the
movie. I also have VLC player on my system, but do not understand how to associate mpg and other movie formats to it, so
that when I click on a movie <avi, mpg, wmv> it ...
Mail/Keychain losing password10 Mar 2008 17:42 GMT5
I'm glad I keep my old pre-Mac e-mail in both Mail & Thunderbird.
My problem is, when my server rejects my password, Mail opens with a
small box asking for my password, with a check box to add it to my
keychain.   I open up Thunderbird, find the e-mail that gave me my
iCal data10 Mar 2008 17:20 GMT10
I'm trying to find my iCal data file.
I have looked for .ics files, and I have looked at the Today smart
folder after changing something from within iCal then quitting iCal.
I'm not finding it.
