| iMovie can't open video file made from TV broadcast | 12 Mar 2008 00:16 GMT | 7 |
I recorded a TV program off the air onto a DVD by using a hardware DVD recorder (no computer involvement). Then I used Disk Utility (v10.5.5) to copy the DVD to my iMac hard drive, where it is stored as a .dmg file. After expanding, the .dmg file creates a folder called

| Trend? Can Register Only One User Per Machine | 11 Mar 2008 17:02 GMT | 6 |
I'm Outraged! Thoroughly Pissed!! But, perhaps I may also be a little behind the times, so I thought I'd ask here. It's been a long time since I bought a computer game online. When I found a link pointing to a Monopoly game, for $20 I jumped and bought

| MT-NewsWatcher old posts | 11 Mar 2008 16:59 GMT | 6 |
I was reading messages in MT-NewsWatcher, and wanted to find an older message in a thread. I tried clicking on what I saw in the header, but that didn't work. So I read the help, opened it again with Option and downloaded 2500

| Ripping Audio from a DVD | 11 Mar 2008 16:16 GMT | 6 |
I have a DVD my botherer (er, brother, damn typos!) sent me of his trip to Florida last year. Anyway, there's a part of the audio track that I want to get to and turn into an mp3 to torment him with (hey, it's a good cause, right?).

| "Safari" menu becomes useless | 11 Mar 2008 13:07 GMT | 21 |
After Safari 2.0.4 has been running for a while (a few days maybe) on my 10.4.9 G4 system, all the items in the "Safari" menu quit working. The menu looks the same as usual -- nothing is grayed out -- but if I click on any items in it, nothing happens.

I was reading a newsgroup and someone created a bunch of idiot messages, so I killfiled him. I exited the newsgroup, re-opened it, and his messages were still there in my unread window.

I imported pictures and MPG's into Iphoto, but when I click on a movie, it opens Quick Time, but does not play the movie. I also have VLC player on my system, but do not understand how to associate mpg and other movie formats to it, so that when I click on a movie <avi, mpg, wmv> it ...

| Mail/Keychain losing password | 10 Mar 2008 17:42 GMT | 5 |
I'm glad I keep my old pre-Mac e-mail in both Mail & Thunderbird. My problem is, when my server rejects my password, Mail opens with a small box asking for my password, with a check box to add it to my keychain. I open up Thunderbird, find the e-mail that gave me my
