How much is lost when exporting to a QuickTime movie?15 Mar 2008 01:21 GMT5
I have several mp4 files which I would like to export to ".mov" files
(QuickTime movie) (a ".mov" file seems so much smaller and QuickTime
doesn't seem to handle mp4 files properly (for example, when setting the
position earlier, QuickTime player freezes to about 1 minute or so)) ...

I'm picking up a MacBook this week to replace an aging Windows laptop,
and would appreciate suggestions for some of the "best" software,
commercial or open source" for functions such as:
word processing (don't need anything as heavy as MS Office)

Firefox/video problem14 Mar 2008 18:51 GMT15
Sometimes when viewing video on a web page in Firefox the video frame
is invisible unless the page is scrolled up so that the top of the
frame touches the bottom of the menu bar. i've seen it with most types
of web video, such as flash or QT. However it isn't consistent;it

Microsoft Office 2008 Special Media Edition -- Sweet Deal14 Mar 2008 03:47 GMT32
In the middle January I purchased a (actually redundant) copy of Office 2004
Student / Teacher edition so that I could then qualify for the very low cost
upgrade to Office 2008 Special Media Edition which normally sells for a
smidgen under $500, but which I could have for under ...
is it possible to ID Itune DRM Songs?13 Mar 2008 21:09 GMT16
I have some DRM music protected scattered about in my library.  This
was not a problem until I wanted to do a sideshow for my son.  The
Spanish music had a few DRM tracks and I was not allowed to make a DVD.
Can I tag or identify these tunes ?  I now go with Amazon for MP3's.
ipod nano powers down13 Mar 2008 18:12 GMT2
I got a Nano last September and now find it sometimes powers down and
just displays the apple logo dimmly.  The power bar at the top
indicates it still has 50% battery available and it was recharged last
week with minimal usage.  Does anyone know why this is happening or

I am running 10.4.11, safari 3.0.4. Just recently(within the last

showing up as non responding when do a force quit. This happens more
in some accounts than others but is annoying ( annoying enough to

Help needed with M-Audio piano keyboard13 Mar 2008 03:50 GMT3
I'm trying to get my M-Audio piano keyboard to work on my G5 Dual with
10.3.9.  I bought the keyboard a couple of years ago, couldn't make it
work, so set it aside.  Now I'm making another stab at seeing if I can
get this "plug-and-play" device to make a sound.
Remote access12 Mar 2008 15:00 GMT29
In Windows, I use Remote Desktop or pcAnywhere to control our Windows 2003

software to accomplish this job.
Thanks,
