A few days ago i heard the fan on my iMac G5 go into overdrive.  I hold
the power key down until it shuts down. And Reboot it  this happens
every 3 months or so.  Big deal.
After I'm up and running for a while I do a spotlight search and see

controlling iTunes using the included remote works out of the box. But
I'd like a way to rate songs with it, possibly without looking at the
screen. No idea how to implement this with just 5 buttons, but smarter
people may have done it?

I think I kinow the answer to this. I have started converting old vinyl
to CDs. The software I use saves the files in a proprietary format but
its preferred (read ONLY) export format is WAV. iTunes of course
imports this. I convert these to AAC for the files I want to keep in

I am experiencing problems with my wireless mouse.  Periodically it
looses connection with the iMac; the cursor freezes, and I needed to
force the iMac to shut down by holding the on/off button down.  When
the computer restarts the mouse is functioning correctly.  Then later

In the OS 9 days, I used SoundEdit to manage tracks of QuickTime movies.
With that, I was able to see, edit, add, remove and change info of
QuickTime tracks. Multiple QuickTime tracks were allowed (a QuickTime
track could contain either one or two tracks). Now, Mac OS 9 is not

Safari will not download PDF files from the internet. When asked to do
so, the screen turns black and everything stops. Every other aspect of
