Is there an application to compress picture files (jpg,tiff)?28 Oct 2007 03:32 GMT11
I'd like to compress large picture files (jpg, tiff) to make them more
manageable for e-mailing.
I know that I can transfer the file to iPhoto and use the e-mail option
to reduce the file size to three pre-set sizes (small, medium, large).
Stupid changes in mail.app28 Oct 2007 02:57 GMT2
Command-option-J to empty the junk mail folder is disabled when the
"advanced" option for handling mail is chosen, even if the advanced
handling of junk mail puts the mail in the junk mail folder.  I use the
advanced option so that junk mail can automatically be marked as read.
Do I need two licenses of XP if I access it from BootCamp and from Parallels Desktop (or Vmware Fusion)?28 Oct 2007 00:02 GMT12
Dear friends:
Do I need two licenses of XP if I access it from BootCamp *and* from
Parallels Desktop (or Vmware Fusion)?
Nobody has given me a clear answer of this question when I asked it to
Pushing items to the *bottom* of an alphabetized Finder list?27 Oct 2007 21:35 GMT45
I know I can push individual items to the top of an alphabetized list of
files and folders in a Finder list by just putting a blank space (or
several such spaces) at the start of each file or folder name.  Can of
course also use various special characters, bullets or the like ...
Speed27 Oct 2007 21:24 GMT2
I moved away from the Dark World two years ago and after six months of
purgatory with different Linux distros, I discovered OS X when I bought
my first mac, an original Mac mini.
I, immediately, fell in love with Tiger. It's everything Windoze has
filtering out google groups posts27 Oct 2007 17:47 GMT32
Ok, I've finally reached my breaking point and would like to filter out
all posts from Google because of the amount of spam from them. I know
this came up a month or two ago but I can't find the original post. Can
someone please suggest the best way to filter out the entire ...
Internet Security27 Oct 2007 15:21 GMT6
Do I need to buy Internet Security software for my iMac,
or does it come already installed?
I have DSL and leave my computer on all the time running
seti@home software, so I'm concerned that someone could
iSync Tungsten E / sync addr book to Palm Desktop?27 Oct 2007 06:18 GMT3
I cannot get iSync to identify my Tungsten E, even though it is in the
list of supported devices. When doing iSync's Add Device command it
seems to only do a Bluetooth scan, and doesn't identify the USB device.
I'm almost resigned to just using Palm Desktop as in some ways I like
Saving downloaded/streamed music in Safari/Explorer27 Oct 2007 05:29 GMT1
I go to an online archive which makes some music festival shows
available as mp3 for download. I want to download them and save them.
In Safari, if I click on a certain mp3 at that archive, a basic little
player shows up on the screen. Eventually that player will "fill up" (a
Installers on Mac OS X27 Oct 2007 01:35 GMT4
There's an application called Vise, which is (or was) used by developers to
create installers. I wonder why some vendors choose Vise instead of Apple's
own Package Maker?
Is Vise still used by software vendors? Then why?
DVD copy26 Oct 2007 20:35 GMT6
I have an educational DVD that I plan to use quite often, so I started
by making a copy of it with the purpose to watch it on my computer.
So now I have this .cdr copy, but it doesn't play. The files have VLC
icons but it won't play.
Sleep mode and the mouse26 Oct 2007 20:22 GMT8
Just today I've discovered a new behavior on the Intel IMac OSX10.4.10.
Until yesterday EITHER the Logitech optical mouse I have installed or
the McKally Keyboard I have installed would bring the system out of
sleep mode.
Firefox Web Developer Source Display26 Oct 2007 10:51 GMT2
In FF Web Developer, when I look at the source in "Edit HTML", I
am getting the generated source rather than the original source I
made. This original source is represented accurately in View
Source in the Web Developer menu and also under main FF menu:
Does anyone have Unison 1.7.9?26 Oct 2007 00:27 GMT3
I'd like to try Unison as I read that it seems to be quite good at
multipart binary handling (MT-NW, that I usually use, doesn't satisfy me
at all and iGrabNews enjoys taking up 70-80% of the CPU for some reason,
and it's even slow!).
Google maps in webarchives?26 Oct 2007 00:03 GMT6
How can I "dig inside" a webarchive?
Starting from an initial point in a zoomed way out initial view in
Google maps, I zoomed in and recentered multiple times, until I was
looking at a point of interest in hybrid view at maximum zoom (i.e.,
