I just talked to a friend of mine at Microsoft.  Apparently the Mac BU
has no intention of picking up this product.  As a result, Microsoft is
killing the Mac version of it.
God I hate MS....

Because Disk Utility can verify/repair permissions on the booted system
volume, but performing similar tasks under OS 9.x has been ill-advised,
I'm curious to know if it makes any difference if I run the procedure on
a booted system volume, or if I run it while booted from a ...

I have a Logitech Mouse (MX518) which has extra buttons. But in the
mouse preferences I can't configure them, all I get shown is left/right
button.

If you go to some url in Safari and see a short Flash movie,
presumably it gets cached? Is this correct? If so, where exactly
would one look for it on the machine to play it off line?

A friend, who made an iMovie on an iMac (red, slot-loading, I think it's
the iMac DV; OS 9.0.4), and transfered it to her MacBook (OS X 10.4.10),
reports that she can't open the movie. We transfered the folder, with
all files inside, onto a little USB thumb drive, and loaded it ...

I am interested in what utilities people use and recommend, utilities
intended to keep one's Macintosh in good running order. The intent is to pass
this information on to a friend who will be having a SIG (special interest
group) for Macintosh beginners.

Would anyone know why Quicktime movies will not play in any of my
browsers-All I get is the sound bar which works fine but no movie
plays.

Does anyone have any comments, good or bad, about Apple's extended
support?  It was my understanding at one time that once you loaded
your nano with songs or audio the warranty was null and void.

When I input this number - 166879123999 - into either an Excel or Numbers
cell the cell translates this to 1.66879E+11. NeoOffice shows the number
correctly (one up for Neo).

In Indesign CS3, how can I insert pages that have text frames that are
automatically linked to one another?
Every time I insert a page at the end of a document, the text frame on
that page isn't linked the text frame on the previous page.

It is not surprising that when one changes website code, one

I'm keeping my documents folder down on the dock just to the left of the
Apple Spring and to the right of the separation line. I've been putting
files and folders into it by dragging them from the desktop down into

Will a DVD burned with the Finder (using no external application like
Burn) be readable by a Windows PC ? I fear that the format used by the
Finder when burning is HFS, which is unreadable by Windows unless you
use an auxiliary application.

Installation of he SilverKeeper Backup software, packed with the LaCie
Harddisk, resulted in a "File not found" errormessage and no installed
SilverKeeper. Found few similar issues on the net without solution
though.
