SuperDuper! Lives up to its name12 Jul 2007 04:27 GMT35
Overnight last night, I ran SuperDuper! 2.1.4 for the first time to
make a bootable back-up of OS X 10.4.10 on a partition on my external
FW HD connected to my G4 Quicksilver. I booted from the back-up, and
have been working in it all morning. I must say that I'm very
iMovie & iDVD alternatives?12 Jul 2007 04:19 GMT27
iMovie and iDVD are cute applications, but they don't have a lot of
capability. They are free. Final Cut Pro costs about $1000. Is there
anything in between? Something in the range of $100 to $200? I used to
use Adobe Premiere LE for editing. It had everything I needed with
please rotate my .mpg11 Jul 2007 21:01 GMT1
I feel a little strange asking a favor of someone that I've never met
but I don't know any quicktime pro users and I am tired of seeing one
of my quicktime clips sideways. (it's been over 2 years) My quicktime
player will not rotate it but I understand that quicktime pro will,
decoding a base64 email message11 Jul 2007 20:52 GMT3
I just got an email message that contains a text part that claims to be
encoded in MIME-base64.  It just looks like text in webmail, Mail, and
MacSoup. I haven't figured out a way of decoding it on my Mac Pro
(X.4.9).  Fink claims there's 'uudeview' that'll do the job, but I
Hogwasher11 Jul 2007 15:54 GMT1
I recently changed ISPs and from that time, Hogwasher no longer
connects to the news server. I changed settings in preferences to
indicate the new news server with no success. There is no error
message when I try to connect. The software does not seem to be trying
Parallels Setup11 Jul 2007 15:47 GMT6
I was going to follow up the thread at
http://forum.parallels.com/thread12641-hybrid.html, but the last
couple of days, I haven't been able to find out how to post - I
suspect if I try another day, they will have that enabled again.

QUESTION: How do I do a RE-DIRECT in XML?
I'm coding my first RSS feed.
How do I code a "re-direct" in XML to another XML page?
Such as if I want to have several RSS URLs, but have them all
En masse encoding change in BBEdit11 Jul 2007 01:37 GMT8
Sorry, I need reminding on the method of changing all the done
BBedit or TextWrangler files in a folder to a desired encoding.
With an individual file, there is a little button that brings a
dropdown in which you can choose what you want for the file. How
adding .mac address to mail10 Jul 2007 23:02 GMT2
My wife wants to keep her Earthlink e-mail address, but would like
mail to also pick up any mail sent to her .mac address.   We are also
thinking about switching from DSL to cable (Keeping Earthlink at a
reduced rate for dial-up purposes).   We might want to add a Comcast
Hogwasher quits immediately10 Jul 2007 19:10 GMT18
Something strange has happened to Hogwasher on my G4 Quicksilver running
OS X 10.4.10. The original user account has been deleted, but I've
been trying to restore everything I can on a recreated admin user
account (yes, I deleted the old account using "Delete Immediately," like ...
Safari debug help10 Jul 2007 15:32 GMT1
I'm compiling a page of Safari menu items and what they all do.  I
know most of the usual stuff and the help files are pretty good, but
I'm struggling with some of the Debug menu items.
Can someone please fill me in on the following, or tell me where to
iTune: play song in external hard drive10 Jul 2007 14:11 GMT1
I'd like to know if I can play songs stored in externel hard drive
without the iTune automatically copying it in the library.

MacTheRipper and MacBook Pro10 Jul 2007 11:33 GMT10
This app is for a PowerPC but Get Info doesn't show an Open in Rosetta
option so I guess it is automatic.  Anyhow, it can't read DVDs in my
built-in drive.  Fortunately, it can read DVDs in my add-on drive.
However, I would like it to use the built-in.  Is there any way to make
Converting DVDs10 Jul 2007 03:37 GMT4
A while ago, my parents transferred all their old home movies from VHS
and 8mm to DVD for safekeeping.  Recently, my great-aunt passed away
and my parents would like to me to create a "memory DVD" for her
family, with all of the clips of her that we can find.
