Parallel's Desktop extra files13 Apr 2007 01:18 GMT2
I had some trouble with Parallel's Desktop installation, and now when
it starts, it gives me an option between two files to open. Selecting
one of them asks me to mount the Windows CD, selecting the other
works.

Extracting short DVD clips on OS X12 Apr 2007 22:45 GMT6
What's the easiest and cheapest way to extract and save short clips/
scenes from DVD movies on a Macbook with OS X? I'd like to make a
compilation of interesting film techniques and effects (ranging from 5
seconds to 10 minutes) from my DVD collection. I'd also like to keep
iTunes Utility Needed12 Apr 2007 21:29 GMT3
I need a utility to examine all of the media files of all types in my
"iTunes Music" folder and report to me if any of those items -- music,
video, podcasts, et al, are not in the iTunes Library on that Mac.
Why? Because I keep my library synchronized on the permitted five Macs,
Deleting iTunes Podcasts, but not the listings11 Apr 2007 20:05 GMT1
I have iTunes 7.1 (for my PC, actually) and have my settings where my
podcasts will automatically download the latest episode and keep only
the latest episodes.  However, when it deletes previous episodes, it
also deletes the listing from that channel.
iTunes + Shuffle problem11 Apr 2007 17:13 GMT1
I am running iTunes 7.1.1 and a Gen 1 512 Mb shuffle.  When the update
to 7.1 happened it also wanted to update the Shuffle which I did.
Ever since then the Shuffle won't play the list of podcasts I load (I

How do I keep a browser/site from recognizing me?11 Apr 2007 14:45 GMT11
There is site that I log into and then it remembers me. Today I wanted
to try visiting anonymously, as a guest. So I deleted the browser
folder from Library. Yet, as soon as opened the page it began with
"Welcome, Ajanta". I was surprised for I thought the folder in my

an 'overwrite' mode in text editor?11 Apr 2007 08:47 GMT7
I've been trying TextWrangler as a text editor, and sorely missing some
functionality I'm used to.  One of them is being able to overwrite on a
text line on which location markers have already been placed (using a
fixed-pitch font).  Is there an overwrite mode I haven't discovered ...
Disappearing buttons on Safari's bookmark bar11 Apr 2007 04:01 GMT1
Twice now, I've had button disappear from the Safari bookmark bar when
I add new buttons.  I'm guessing there's onl;y room for so many
buttons and then this starts to happen if you add more.  Is that
indeed how it works?  And if so, can I make room for more buttons by
Contact information on web page --> import into AddressBook?11 Apr 2007 02:18 GMT1
Is there a way to import contact information shown on web pages
directly into Address Book in Mac OS X Tiger?
Preferably using a contextual menu (right-click) or the "Services"
menu item.
iTunes stalls on gapless11 Apr 2007 00:50 GMT4
Ok,
I found that this has been discussed a number of times all over the
place, but I have not seen a solution.
Could someone please point me in the right direction!
Text codings?10 Apr 2007 15:04 GMT4
I'm using Terminal and the unix command ls to catalogue my stuff,
piping the result to textfile. Naturally it works well ... BUT ... I'm
getting odd key/text/codings (or whatever the correct term is). For
example:

although the X11 1.0 Xterm does start. OpenOffice 2.0 still starts
normally.
burning data disks with iTunes 7.1.1?10 Apr 2007 02:35 GMT1
Hi...
Tried to use iTunes 7.1.1 to burn a data disk for the first time since
the update using some Dynex blanks I got from my brother.  Went through
4 disks before I gave up.  iTunes seemed to burn fine but then went off
