filtering in the latest Hogwasher04 Jan 2007 17:45 GMT4
Has anyone else noticed a problem with filtering?
Specifically, no new Kill Author/Subject filters are saved. Old ones continue
to work. When I right-click and choose to Kill either the Author or the
Subject, the subject lines do immediately go away, but are there the next
Stuffit File Suffix04 Jan 2007 17:27 GMT23
I just upgraded from Stuffit v9 to v11.
I use to be able to simple change a file's name to filename.sit or
filename.zip and it would compress them.  This doesn't work anymore.  I
remember going through this 5 years ago.
Smart Playlist only using songs on local drive (that is, without "exclamation points")?04 Jan 2007 16:02 GMT7
I have been compiling hundreds of mp3 files from CDs to a separate
firewire drive, in an external tray device.
Now and then my son wants to update his own iPod without me around.
I've realized that since iTunes keeps the data on all of the mp3s (that
Amadeus II & Jack04 Jan 2007 09:58 GMT21
Hi...
I was trying out Amadeus II and thought I'd try and capture some
streams with it.  If I clicked record and used the built-in audio as the
driver/source, I could record but the line levels were very low.
Sony Ericcsson mobile/Address book: how to fix CR in adresses04 Jan 2007 09:35 GMT2
I have a new Sony Ericsson mobile phone (K800i).
While syncing with iSync I found trouble with the address book -
probably because of carriage returns in the adresses (first, name,
e-mail - see http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303418). How
In Photoshop CS 2, how to change from centimeters to inches04 Jan 2007 02:35 GMT13
In Photoshop CS 2, how can I change the Page Setup units from
centimeters to inches?
I've looked in various places, such as the Page Setup window and the
various preferences panes, but can't find the means to do this.

QT Player does bad job of playing AVI movies03 Jan 2007 20:32 GMT19
The movie displays in QTP window split in two: half the scan lines make up an
image on the left half of the screen, and the other half of the scan lines
make up an image on the other half.
QTP does this to most of the MP4 videos I have. (Other players -- MPlayer;
Copying iPhoto data to new disk02 Jan 2007 22:15 GMT3
Does anyone know how to correctly copy an iPhoto library to a new disk?
Due to some hardware problems, our Powerbook (10.4, latest upgrades,
iPhoto 6.0.5) has a new disk.  It's bigger and faster, which is nice,
and the old disk works fine when plugged into the firewire port, so I
OmniGraffle Pro 4.1.2 worth buying?02 Jan 2007 18:45 GMT8
I have occasional use for creating flowcharts.
Anyone have opinions one way or the other about OmniGraffle?

Launching postgresql as a daemon02 Jan 2007 14:10 GMT2
I'm still a novice Mac user and I'm a bit confused about how I'm
supposed to use launchd.
I installed postgresql81 through fink and it has a
/sw/etc/daemons/postgresql81.xml file. I suppose this is the input to
Spam rule02 Jan 2007 14:04 GMT8
I made a rule the other day to be rid of the constant stuff
evading the filter on the Mail.app:
Put a message in junk folder if it is not addressed to my full
name AND if sender is not in my address book AND it has an
Spam and Mail02 Jan 2007 14:03 GMT3
Want to find out more about the way email works, spam and Mail in
particular. Looks like some rules are going to be needed to help
weed out the spam that use pics. I was thinking to move any
emails that contain attachments .gif and that are not in my
Any Problems Using a 12" Al PB G4 as a Mac Mini?02 Jan 2007 10:50 GMT5
I have a 12" Al PB G4 that I'd like to close the top on and use with an
external keyboard, mouse, and monitor.  Seems to work just fine but I
am worried about the heat buildup damaging the LCD screen on the
PowerBook.
What is the best/easiest to use FTP server or other server software?02 Jan 2007 03:56 GMT6
All I want to do is send some files to a friend.  Some of them are
pretty large.  For example one is a DVD of family video files
(basically converted old movies) I made it into an ISO but now I need
to set up some kind of server to send it.   I've run into this problem
