Apple's Font Book - Misinformation in a Review11 Jan 2007 03:29 GMT20
In a recent review of font managers in Ars Technica found at
<http://arstechnica.com/reviews/apps/fontmanagers.ars>
the author, Dave Girard, essentially dismissed Apple's Font Book for three
reasons, (1) the inability to have font libraries located where the user
Convert photos to panoramas10 Jan 2007 23:41 GMT14
Can anyone point me to a well regarded program (freeware would be nice)
to convert a sequence of photos to a single panorama?
I've tried the old tricks of cutting and pasting into Graphics Converter
and Pages (since I had both), but the results are rougher than I'd like
Anyone tried to download Toast 8 upgrades?10 Jan 2007 22:08 GMT3
Has anyone tried to download Toast 8 upgrades from Roxio? I am doing so,
and it is giving download times of over 4 hours (on a T1 line), or about
8-10 kB per second.
This seems absurd - has anyone else run into this, and is there a
iTunes question10 Jan 2007 16:09 GMT1
Is there a way to combine tracks that have already been imported into
iTunes? This features appears to exist prior to importing, but I can't
figure out how to do it with tracks I already have imported.
Was this a kernel panic without the dialog box?10 Jan 2007 05:02 GMT1
Major system crash without kernel panic.
Was this a kernel panic without the dialog box?
I think it was a GUI panic but the kernel soldiered on. No data (apparently) was lost. Thousands
of lines of crash logs were written to the disk (no, they're not all gonna be repeated here,

Windows EMF files09 Jan 2007 18:51 GMT1
Dear People,
I have a Word doc with EMF images in it. These docs will not show up on
a Mac. I can get the images onto the desktop but not even Graphic
Converter will open them.
Disk Utility freezing09 Jan 2007 17:12 GMT2
I have an external hard drive that was unmounted mid-format since Disk
Utility was apparently frozen.
I cannot do ANYTHING with it right now: I cannot partition, I cannot
erase - no matter what I do, Disk Utility freezes up and will show the
Mail & Blackberry09 Jan 2007 16:37 GMT3
I just started using my Blackberry for email, have been doing sync via
PocketMac, and setup was a breeze.  It works like I specified except
for a minor preference I'm hoping someone can help with.
Incoming email gets forwarded to my BB while the original stays on my
Addressbook Sync - .Mac09 Jan 2007 15:47 GMT5
Does anybody know if there is an issue when synchronising the address
book? I'm a new user and so far have only set a few addresses up. The
sync process however does not seem to work. I synced on 5th Jan and
whilst I have carried out the process several times since the online
How can I saturate image files printed wirh Indesign09 Jan 2007 09:49 GMT4
How can I saturate my JPEGs and TIFFs globally in Indesign? They're
printing pale in Indesign CS 2, and saturated in Photoshop CS 2.
I've got my color settings synchronized in Bridge.

a DVD's audio to purely audio09 Jan 2007 05:08 GMT7
I'm speaking of a "standard" DVD movie type thing. How does one go about
extracting the audio as best as can be. I am not thinking of an Audio Hijack
type solution, but a more pure ripping solution. The DVDs in question are
filmed concerts. We want the audio. Googling has shown ...
friend buys mac, bummed about wma files.09 Jan 2007 05:01 GMT21
I helped a friend move over to a cool new imac, and she has 10 gigs of
WMA files and I have read a fair bit here and there, but I am still a
bit confused. Its all the most current software, as the machine is
brand new. I have her old harddrive mounted, and found a program called
So I My First DVD....09 Jan 2007 00:23 GMT14
I had about a gig of ".mov" files I though would be nice to put on a
DVD using iDVD 6 on my PowerBook running the latest Tiger.  I was
surprised at how clumsy, awkward, and time consuming the process was.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong?  Here is what I found:
Why can't I type or paste this URL into a Thoth post?08 Jan 2007 23:29 GMT37
I am encountering something quite perplexing. I can't paste or type the
following URL into a Thoth post. Now, you might ask, how did I get it
below? By leaving a space between // and www. If I try to join them I
get the spinning beach ball. What is going on?
