As an experienced and long time Internet and Usenet user, although via
Macs only, I've been asked to help a personal acquaintance in the
Windows-only world get started reading Usenet news.  Maybe it would be
better to point them to a Windows-based advisor instead -- but for

check out Hogwasher, but I cannot figure out how to change it to a
single-window, multi-pane view, instead of the multi-window view. I

I have a win98 machine.  I burned some CDs of photos for friends and
family.  Those who have Win98 or WinXP were able to read the CDs (even
those who don't have my particular CD-burning software); those who have
linux or Mac could not read the CDs.

I downloaded gimpshop from the apple web site and now it complains about
not being able to find X11 and to check the install CD for it. All I
found was a X11SDK, installed it and it still complains. What do I need
