Converting AVIs to DVD?07 Nov 2006 06:58 GMT6
I have several .AVI files that I want to make into a DVD. This should
be a standard DVD, playable in any DVD player.
I've tried iDvd, but it doesn't seem to like AVI files.  What Mac
software should I use to do this? Do I have to do some sort of
Any free links application like iData Pro for OSX07 Nov 2006 02:57 GMT3

Simple Image Viewer07 Nov 2006 02:37 GMT26
I'm looking for a very simple (small footprint, fast) image viewer for
browsing images in a folder, rotating them, etc.  Ideally, something
very similar to Irfanview on the PC.
I've tried the Previewer that came with OS X, as well as a handful of
Photoshop CS1 takes forever to open certain files...07 Nov 2006 01:31 GMT1
...and not only does it sometimes take forever, but even on files that
aren't especially "difficult", it'll just sit there and grind away until
I click back into the Finder. Then, the image opens in the background,
and _than_ I can click back into Photoshop to work with it, ...

Please bear with me, I've read so many reviews my brain hurts.  I'm hoping
to get help from people actually using Parallels and Boot Camp so I know
what I'll need before I order my new iMac.

list all applications06 Nov 2006 18:56 GMT2
Is there a piece of software that lists all aplications on one's drive
by name of application, preferably through the use of a hotkey?
I know there is Todos, but this lists them by icon and I find the name
far easier to use.
Does TurboTax PC run under VirtualPC?06 Nov 2006 13:48 GMT10
I've read that in the past, you could not run Windows versions of
TurboTax on Macs using VirtualPC.  Is that still true?
Specifically, if I have VirtualPC 7 for Mac plus WinXP Pro and want
to run the Windows version of TurboTax Business, can I now do that?
Can I change my alais icon on my desktop?06 Nov 2006 12:23 GMT26
I made documents and applications aliases on my desktop. But I would
rather have the big easel-like A for instead of a simple folder for
applications. Can I do this easily?
IDVD maximum length?06 Nov 2006 05:53 GMT3
With a dual-layer disc, what is the maximum disc length that I can get
with iDVD? There is absolutely nothing in the docs about this.

Getting Photoshop to open JPEGs instead of Preview05 Nov 2006 22:55 GMT9
How can I get Photoshop to open all JPEGs instead of Preview opening them?
With a file or files selected, in Get Info (in OS 10), I change "Others"
to "Read and Write", and then specify that all JPEGs should be opened
with Photoshop instead of Preview by pressing "Change All", and ...

Not sure if anyone here knows this but do they still make a product by

Address Book Bug?05 Nov 2006 14:51 GMT1
If I use Address Book to print a series of envelopes I seem to have a problem
printing the country. What I want to achieve is that any that are destined to
go abroad show the country, UK addresses do not.
When I set-up the print I opt to print country (except my country) and what
