Is there a Mac Mini Freeware DVD burning software that DOESN'T use the internal dvd software?28 Sep 2006 21:11 GMT3
I have an external 16x USB2 dvd driver, the firmware is up to date, the
disks are good quality. Tiger is bang up to date.
But it can take literally hours to burn even a 100Mb onto a DVD disk.
What ever app I use, it always seems to use that thing with the stripes that
importing from Mail.app28 Sep 2006 13:41 GMT4
I'm fed up with Mail.app screwing up forwards and want to get off it.
I've looked a Thunderbird which many recommend and Entourage - neither
have an option to import from Mail.app
I don't see the point in having a Mail.app alternative which imports
Editing quicktime mov files28 Sep 2006 13:16 GMT2
Hi. I am looking for a good program for editing mov files. I have IMovie
but that requires that I convert my mov files to dv files-- which are
much larger in size.  I am looking to edit some mov files to put on the
internet so I don't need to bother with dv files.  Is there a ...
MT-NewsWatcher Q.28 Sep 2006 00:09 GMT5
I just switched isp's (Cox > Verizon).  I configured MTNW to connect to
Verizon's newsserver ok, but all my saved groups still try to connect to
Cox's server.  Is there a way to avoid having to relocate and resave all
my groups all over again?
Suddenly, Safari won't print to PDF27 Sep 2006 23:09 GMT1
I often print Web pages (online receipts, etc.) to PDF when I'm using
Safari. Today I tried to do this, but the "Save to PDF" option in
Safari's Print dialog was grayed out, as were all of the choices except
for "Save PDF as Postscript..." and "Fax PDF...". I've tried this with a ...
Quicken 2000 on PowerBook freezes OS X27 Sep 2006 19:59 GMT20
Migrating my mother off of her OS9 iMac and getting her to use OS X
on a PowerBook has taken...  um, "a bit" longer than I had expected.
We still have one large hurdle to jump:  getting Quicken 2000 (or a
replacement) running properly.  Q2000 is an OS9 application, and one
QUESTIONS: migrating to Entourage?27 Sep 2006 19:20 GMT5
I recently got MS Office 2004, and am wondering: is it worth the trouble
of trying to immigrate from the aging Palm Desktop, Apple Mail 2, and
Address Book? This doesn't seem that simple, but it seems like having
everything in a single PIM/e-mail program would be desirable.
Exporting address book in text format27 Sep 2006 15:53 GMT7
I want to  export the contents of my address book in plain text format in
order to copy and paste the contents to my ISP's e-mail filters.  Is there
any way of doing this using an iMac G5 running  OS X?
BBEdit & specifying ftp port27 Sep 2006 07:06 GMT5
I'm using BBEdit 7.1.2.  I need to be able to specify a different port
number for ftp.  (Yes, I have passive FTP checked).  Is there a way to
do this with BBEdit 7.1.2?  And if not, is there a way to do it with the
current version of BBEdit?
Register: AMAZING little Mac Database27 Sep 2006 05:41 GMT12
Just got this yesterday - dropped a 10-year-old, 2000-record FileMaker
database into it with no work - works beautifully, and is free!

Stores data in XML, you can have a useful database up in about 45

Converting Windows ASCII text27 Sep 2006 01:52 GMT8
Is there a free, easy to use program that works under MacOS 10.4.7 that
remaps Windows characters to the Mac character set?
So far I have either come across such utilities that don't work at all
with MacOS 10.4.7. or they're expensive, bloated, complicated and
Thoth 1.81: Can you "teach" words to spell-checker27 Sep 2006 01:31 GMT1
Can I teach Thoth 1.81 to accept certain words I use regularly, and not
treat them as misspelled?
Switching laptops26 Sep 2006 18:55 GMT2
Her in doors has finally brought her own laptop but we have a problems.
Half of her files, pictures, etc or still one this one.  Is there
anyway I can just transfer her files and not mine !
Or, if we decide to copy the lot, will it erase the files on my laptop
Need a simple technical drawing program26 Sep 2006 18:05 GMT5
I need to do some fairly simple technical drawings. In the old days
MacDraw would have  served the purpose just fine. What program today is
comparable? It is all too easy to find architectural drawing programs
that are far too complex and expensive for the task at hand.
