Is 4D First database program still viable?16 Aug 2006 01:42 GMT4
While trying to clean up a bit (a task never finished), I discovered
the manuals and disks for the 4D First data base program. It looks
interesting. It calls for at least System 6.1. Can it possibly work
with a more modern machine and Systeem 10.4? I find no way to contact

I'm an old hand at Unix, but a Mac OS newbie, and I've been unable to
find an answer to the following question:
How does one control the search path that is passed to apps by the GUI
so that they can find other executable programs?
G5 Processor Upgrade16 Aug 2006 00:50 GMT1
A couple of years ago I bought a Power Mac G5 with a single 1.6 MHz

Does anybody has any suggestions? How can I upgrade my machine?

Saving MT-NewsWatcher posts & replies?15 Aug 2006 14:41 GMT4
Is there any distinction between auto-saving your own posts and replies
at the time they're sent (by checking the "Save copies of sent messages"
box in the message options preferences pane), and elective manual saving
of selected posts using the File Save (As) menu commands?
iTunes playing only active tracks15 Aug 2006 14:40 GMT3

Well, i've a library with more than 2000 songs and an iPod Nano with
1000 songs from this library, so an half are activated and the other
half not.
Copying open files and running applications15 Aug 2006 13:46 GMT5
In the days of the classic OS it was generally thought to be not a very
good idea to copy open files or running applications.
I'm wondering if this is true for OS X; is it best to shut files before
copying them or quit applications before copying them?

Voice Changing Software?15 Aug 2006 02:21 GMT3
Hi. I am looking for voice changing software for OS X.   Basically, it's
software that changes the pitch of your voice in real time.  There are a
number of programs for Windows but I haven't found one for Mac.  Is
there such a beast? Please let me know.  Thanks, Mirsky
