TFT screen: little spots can't be removed29 Aug 2006 13:44 GMT2
I recently discovered some spots on my MacBook Pro's TFT screen:

The spots look a little bit like "dusthairs". If I'm looking from the
side from the screen, the surface looks perfectly well.
Mail.app ignores emails29 Aug 2006 12:56 GMT3
Morning.
I had serious problems with Mail.app.
The most of my emails in INBOX.mbox suddenly were not longer displayed
in Mail.app. I've looked in

Thunderbird instead of Mail App28 Aug 2006 23:08 GMT10
I'm using the Apple Mail app and it seems OK.  However a friend is trying to
convince me that Thunderbird is a better bet.  He cites T'birds threading and
filtering as better than the Mac mail app.  I've had a look at T'bird, but as
a newbie beginner I can't see a lot of ...
Sudden decrease in audio level from iTunes 6.0.528 Aug 2006 17:48 GMT13
Has anyone experienced a sudden and sharp decrease in audio level
(volume) from iTunes 6.0.5 (20)?
Up till a few days ago, iTunes was functioning fine. But I first noticed
this yesterday while playing some MP3s I'd just ripped from one of my

what result on a Mac Intel iMac? Am finding it difficult to get all the
bits and pieces to work, even after uploading updates. Any clues?

"disc burner or software not found" G4 PowerMac28 Aug 2006 05:24 GMT10
I picked up an old G4 AGP "sawtooth" at a 2nd hand store.  It was wiped
clean and has a new install of Tiger OS but no discs.  DVD plays and I
can import my CD's to iTunes, but I can't burn a CD.  Any thoughts on
how to fix this without any original install discs?  I've used ...
Creating an Emergency disk28 Aug 2006 02:01 GMT5
I am currently on 10.4.5.   Diskwarrior is on 10.3.7 and runs
incredibly slow.
What is the best wya to install Diskwarrior on a 10.4 disk to run
faster and still boot my Mac?
Can MacPro Drive a 42" Plasma?27 Aug 2006 23:27 GMT14
I am woefully behind on keeping up with the current audio/video
scene. I'm fairly tempted by the new MacPro box. My regular TV could
use an update, too. I have no need for separate screens, as I live
alone.
Keyboard Viewer27 Aug 2006 21:43 GMT2
I am a relative newbie to os x, but I find that my new macbook pro comes
without the # key. Looking around I see that there is something called
keybard viewer. I looked in systemprefs->international->input, but
cannot see any option to select keyboard viewer or the character ...
A way to share photos without using iPhoto?27 Aug 2006 21:35 GMT9
I am a recent convert to a Mac from the world of PCs.  I am looking for
an easy way to share my photos on my Mac.  I know I can photocast with
iPhoto, but I don't really want to sign up for a .Mac account since I
wouldn't use most of the features.  I used to use Picasa/Hello on my
That's ok27 Aug 2006 20:08 GMT14
Thanks but no thanks.  I'm new to the mac and just need to find
somewhere else to ask for help.  I thought that's what this groups was
for.

The Silly Dock...27 Aug 2006 19:14 GMT43
The silliness of the dock, I have spoken about before. But it is
something one lives with in X. It would be more practical if it
could be configured to be a list, put in the menu bar at the top
as a drop down and be a tear off to boot. Failing this or in
Mozilla.org add-on site doesn't like Firefox...wtf?27 Aug 2006 16:44 GMT4
Like it says.
I'm trying to get onto the Firefox add-on pages at mozilla.com, and
Firefox says, "Unable to connect. Firefox can't establish a connection
to the server at addons.mozilla.org."
