I use Windows, but I have a couple of close friends that use Macs. One of them has bought a iSight webcam recently. We both use MSN Messenger and Skype, but the Mac versions doesn't seem to have webcam support. Apparently Yahoo messenger has webcam support for both Mac and PC, ...

I received a coupon in .pdf format from Coke for a Blockbuster rental. Tried to print it from Adobe Reader 7.0.5 on a Mac G4 OSX 10.4.6 on a HP Photosmart 1115 printer and it came out as a black blob - three times. I then did the old Mac Cmd-Shift-4 and copied the coupon into ...

Does Mac OS X work like Linux in this respect? Do I just set up .Xdefaults with settings for font and position? I would use xfontsel on Linux, but I can't find this utility on OS X.

| iPhoto: I did a bad thing.... | 16 Jun 2006 16:15 GMT | 2 |
Before reading the warnings not to do this, I got into my iPhoto 5.04 library and changed the names of about 100 photos. I didn't change the names of the thumbnails, nor the originals, when they existed. Now iPhoto can't open the photos. The thumbnails are there, but there is

| Wake from sleep, silently | 16 Jun 2006 15:50 GMT | 2 |
I'm looking for a simple time based wake from sleep application for X 10.4. Everything that I've found on version tracker is some kind of alarm clock function (typically playing an iTunes track). My nightly back-ups take time and seem to be resource intensive. So I

Some Mac-owning friends are starting a rental house (furniture and related items) and are looking for integrated inventory and billing software that runs on a Mac. Hopefully something that won't be difficult to build into a web site later. It's a

| Print Music from Garage Band? | 16 Jun 2006 05:15 GMT | 9 |
Has anyone been able to print music from Garage Band? I believe Apple's Logic program does it, but it's quite expensive. There's a program called MusicTime that does a great job of printing music, but I don't know how to get it to use the file format of Garage Band as input.

| Software or hardware problem? | 16 Jun 2006 04:10 GMT | 2 |
A few days ago, after the latest Software Update and reboot, a curious new problem popped up on my Powerbook (G4). Since it seems to have appeared with the update, and for various other reasons, I suspect it's flakey software, but it really looks more like a hardware problem. So ...

I'm shifting some of my old audio cassettes to cd and find that some of them are just a little long to squeeze onto a cd. Is there any way of compressing an aiff file (just a little! the sound quality loss isn't a problem since the cassettes aren't perfect to start with) to burn on ...
