Record selected active window to quicktime?25 Jun 2006 05:07 GMT1
I am looking for an inexpensive (<$50) program to record a selected
window/application to a quicktime file.  It could be used to record the
active session of a VNC-type connection, or of a web conference, or just
about anything else - maybe of an animated java window, whatever.  ...
Changing dialog box default...25 Jun 2006 03:46 GMT13
Anyone suggest a way to make Add the default for when I want to
add an extension to a file name. I do it a real lot to make some
files open in my app (under Classic in X) and am greatly halted
everytime by having to mouse over the Add instead of hitting
Fix or trash?25 Jun 2006 01:03 GMT5
I have an external CD/DVD burner I purchased because I found out my PB
G4 didn't have a super drive.
I have only used the thing once to make a backup CD for HD.
It has been sitting idle for several months. I finally got around to
How Many Hours to a DVD, Possible or Recommended?24 Jun 2006 20:24 GMT26
How many hours of movie material are possible to fit on a DVD, and is
there an amount recommended not to exceed even if it fits?  I have many
hours of material I want to edit into a DVD set and would like to
estimate how many DVDs it will take to complete the set.  Thanks and
Last one -- a Unison problem.24 Jun 2006 20:18 GMT4
I'm doing my spring cleaning here.
Do any of you use Unison? I find that when I open it up and select a
newsgroup, it works fine -- for about three minutes. But once I stop
jumping around and reading posts -- maybe a pause of a few minutes --
Command-line VNC24 Jun 2006 19:26 GMT4
I have SSH access to my home computer right now, but not physical
access.  I'm looking for a VNC server that can be installed and
configured entirely from command line.  I've been using OSXvnc, but it
doesn't seem to have a command line interface.  Does anyone know of a

AppleWorks 6 spell checker stopped learning24 Jun 2006 14:49 GMT2
When I use my AW 6 spell checker (OS X 10.3.9) the "Learn" button is
always grayed out so I can't teach it new words. I'm not sure when this
happened as I remember it working at one time in OS X.
Does anyone know how to restore the Learning feature?

Any idea idea why my iPod always stops updating ...24 Jun 2006 04:54 GMT2
Seems like after 15 or 20 songs it just stops and I'm all jammed up
like I'm using a windows machine or something. (I'm on OSX latest
version.) I can eject. I have to reboot. It's a mess. I notice quite a
few complaints like this on various boards without clear answers. Is
Plug In and USE ?24 Jun 2006 00:03 GMT38
ALL personal computers now have got that complex such that beginners
and NORMAL USERS are overwhelmed by the thing. INITIAL starting up is a
hassle. Back in APPLE2 days, ALL you did was to "TURN ON", put in
PROGRAM floppy AND YOU WERE AWAY !

Command (Apple) key not working23 Jun 2006 13:28 GMT8
Occasionally, and for no apparent reason (for example this morning I'd
barely had time to turn on the computer when the problem started)
command- keyboard shortcuts cease working, with the exception of
command-tab, which cycles me through the applications (and so is an OS
Yet another -- this time an iTunes problem.23 Jun 2006 06:51 GMT1
I recently set up my iTunes to have the music folder reside on an
external hard drive. Most of the time, when I burn a CD, it burns to
the external drive. But now and then it burns to the old, empty music
folder on my startup disk. Why?  (Here's the freaky part: out of the
Finder preview images slow to load22 Jun 2006 20:52 GMT2
I've just upgraded from 10.2.8 to 10.4.6 and I'm having a bothersome
issue with the preview images in Finder loading very slowly. This is
most noticable with large high res Photoshop files. Why is this
happening and is there a fix?
