iMac G4 needs a different printer11 Jun 2006 03:11 GMT4
I bought this HP 5650 Inkjet printer two years ago after having owned
several Epsons. I wasn't all that thrilled with the Epsons, as they
seemed to run out of ink very fast and die shortly after the warranty
ran out.
Hogwasher Help11 Jun 2006 02:07 GMT2
I've been following a thread on another NG about newsreaders and decided
I'd give Hogwasher a try.
Unfortunately when I downloaded and tried running it I had a message
saying "The trial period has expired".
Text Edit docs so I can read them11 Jun 2006 00:32 GMT17
Not a big user of textedit but when I open readMes they come up
in it and that is ok, but I have trouble working out how to see
the text, it is too small always and what do you do to make it
VIEWABLE bigger, not necessarily to save in bigger? That command
Gratitude10 Jun 2006 22:19 GMT1
Everyone,
I just wanted to express my deep gratitude to all of you for being
helpful and tolerant when I ask for help with problems that arise
with my mostly well-behaved system. I turn to the groups when
iTunes interface API10 Jun 2006 18:08 GMT1
Does anyone have any information or leads on how to connect to the
iTunes application from another app? Basically, I want to write a
program (C, C++, Java, or Python) that can interface to iTunes to
control playback, maybe some sort of COM thing?
problem with modifier keys?10 Jun 2006 17:53 GMT1
My iBook G4 OS 10.4.4 has suddenly developed a problem relating to the
control key. Normally, when replying to a post or contributing to
newsgroup I press the ctrl + x. Now when I press ctrl I get a display of
all aplications on my desktop.

to use it with Microsoft Word to save me typing.

Merge MPEG 4 Video files?10 Jun 2006 14:04 GMT4
Anyone know of software to merge MPEG 4 video files?  Some web searching
only turned up a few expensive editors.  I only need to merge the files.
Nothing else.  Free-, Share-, or Inexpensive-ware is of interest.
Thanks for any suggestions.
pine, iTerm, TERM, color, mouse, remote, local10 Jun 2006 13:43 GMT7
I'm experimenting with running pine in iTerm on Mac OS X. I'm in
the midst of experimenting with different settings and I'm
wondering if anyone has any advice? The issues I'm particularly
interested in are:
Glitches with Yahoo Messenger10 Jun 2006 10:48 GMT32
I have always had problems with Yahoo Messenger!  I'm new to this
group.  Currently I am unable to broadcast my webcam and also unable to
view other webcams.  I have an iSight and I do know the cam is working.
Last Tuesday it worked fine.  The only thing I did differently was to
MLB Radio10 Jun 2006 05:07 GMT1
I have been unable to listen or watch clips from MLB.com in either
FIrefox or Safari, despite the requirements listed on their website.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm running the latest version of everything and
I have a powerbook G4.
Photo to Movie10 Jun 2006 02:14 GMT9
Ran across the app "Photo to Movie" in the apple store today.   Looks
like the best of both worlds.   The control of imovie and the slideshow
setup of iphoto.   Is it as cool as it looks?
Anyone have good/bad experiences with the app?
Problem with the "Cursor zoom" utility09 Jun 2006 21:34 GMT5
Somebody -- I think it was someobdy in this group -- told me about the
"Cursor zoom" utility that I could add to my system preferences to
enlarge the cursor.  I've got it and it works fine -- except that every
time I restart/renoot the computer, the cursor goes back to its
Map & Route Software (with GPS-Support) for Mac OS X?09 Jun 2006 21:00 GMT8
Does anybody know a routing-software with GPS support for Mac OS X?
Preferable free / open source / shareware. Catching maps from
GoogleMaps or other internet sources would be fine, but  the routing
itself should be working without an internet connection (obviously).
can't recover deleted mail09 Jun 2006 16:40 GMT2
I am having trouble recovering some deleted mail.  I checked the Mail
help and in it I tried both their suggestions:
1) made sure that the box is clicked under special mailboxes so that
all deleted mail goes to a folder and is NEVER deleted (unless I
