DVD movie to something that can be viewed or downloaded via a webpage12 May 2006 16:49 GMT6
Someone gave me a DVD that has a movie on it (about 6 min long).
It was made for and I think by the organization that wants it
available in some form or other on its website. It mounts as a
volume. I need to get at it somehow to prepare it for the web. I
iPhoto Problem12 May 2006 04:08 GMT8
I have iPhoto4 & wonder about going to iPhoto6 (well, iLife). First,
I'm not importing from a digicam, and I think that's what iPhoto is set
up to do. Only. I have files scanned from neg's & slides. The thing is,
iPhoto4 is so automatic that it translates my file titles into its own
.plist and .nib Files:  Worth Backing Up?11 May 2006 16:05 GMT12
I'm continuing to diagnose why Retrospect appears to do really huge
backups, even with fairly small amounts of activity between backups.
I see in the most recent backup that there don't appear to be any
particularly big files, but there's a really huge number of small files.
Where are My Aperture Originals!?11 May 2006 00:59 GMT5
PowerBook G4/10.4.6, Aperture 1.1.1
The originals can't be missing because they show up in Aperture and I
can edit them and export them. But using every search tool known to Mac
I cannot find them on the hard drive. I also can't find a "reveal in

Endnote 9 can't search Pubmed but freezes10 May 2006 15:41 GMT6
I've got OS 10.4.6 (Tiger) and just bought the Endnote 9 version.
Endnote connects to Pubmed (NLM) and the search window pops up.
After I typed a search term and press "Search", the program freezes up
and I can't quit the application. Have to Force Quit Endnote.
Batch Processing of .mov files?10 May 2006 13:57 GMT1
I have an existing site that has 169 quicktime movies in it, but they
are not streamed, just linked. I would like to move them all to a
streaming server, but I can only find instructions for setting up a
streaming quicktime movie one at a time. Is there an easy way to hint
Safari (and other) stalls10 May 2006 07:08 GMT6
Recently, Safari (and for that matter other browsers) have been
stalling.  The blue status bar in the URl at the top of the page will
hang up, the status at the bottom will stop at loading "x" of "y"
images. If I stop the page and reload it will complete but not always
Getting data off from mac ipod to win PC, but mac has been sold!10 May 2006 03:24 GMT2
Hi! I have a friend who's going to hate Ipod unless I can find a work
around for her!
Seems she had bought an ipod for her mac and had all her stuff (music
and pictures and videos) uploaded to it. Then she sold the mac and is
Safari 2.0.3 memory usage on MacOS X 10.410 May 2006 01:22 GMT1
When I finally migrated to Tiger from Panther, I started noticing some
of the sites I'd frequent had RSS feeds.  So, I added them to my Safari
bookmarks file and Safari happily started reporting when these feeds had
new articles.
How can iTunes fill iPod with oldest podcast first and delete older09 May 2006 21:39 GMT3
I like to take my iPod and listen to podcasts only. I use to play all of
them and then 'reload' the iPod, by removing the played podcasts from
the Podcast Library (coïncidentally erasing the iPod) and filling the
iPod with the oldest material in the Podcast Library by drag and drop. ...

I have some VCDs and the files inside are  .dat  rather than .mpg

open it with QuickTime perfectly.
but whenever i click on those files from the VCD folder, Mac doesn't
Help! Unable to initialize Linux-formatted HDD in G409 May 2006 17:47 GMT3
I recently acquired a Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 120 GB ATA hard drive,
to use as a second drive in my G4 (Sawtooth with upgraded 1.4 Ghz
processor running 10.3.9, 1 GB RAM). The drive was previously formatted
(by the original owner) on a Linux machine, and it is perhaps due to
[9.2.2] Acrobat Reader downgrade solved problems09 May 2006 14:50 GMT1
Not long ago, the latest version of Adobe Reader for OS 9.2.2 on
my G4/450 was having problems, mostly when I went to preview
or print a document. It would sometimes quit unexpectedly,
sometimes freeze up, and on at least two occasions, it would
Quicktime clip too big for iMovie09 May 2006 12:04 GMT1
Thanks Spenser for good advice re converting dvr-ms>quicktime. The
Mpeg-2 file now runs on quicktime but unfortunately it is about 6Gb and
too big for iMovie (apparently iMovie has a limit of 2Gb).
The whole point of editing the clip is to shave off a whole lot of
