a cute thing with drawers...02 May 2006 17:08 GMT22
On some Mac apps, if you have a drawer open and click the "-"
icon to send the window to the dock, the drawer stays! I laugh
every time it happens. I bring the window back, shut the drawer
and send it to the dock. I think the window is a very poor parent
Tab navigation in Safari?02 May 2006 09:48 GMT10
I am running Safari 2.0.3 on an iBook G4 with OS 10.4.6. I cannot find
any keyboard shortcut that would allow me to switch from one tab to the
next without either closing the current tab using Command-W (which I
don't always want to do) or using the trackpad to mouse over to the ...
iPod newbie question02 May 2006 06:53 GMT12
Can anyone explain to me how my iPod turns itself off?
I know that if I hold down the play button for a few seconds it shuts
down, but is there a way to set up the ipod so it automatically turns
itself off after a certain amount of inactivity?
How to play mp3's on an iPod? (best mp3 player application?)02 May 2006 02:01 GMT31
My system is a WinXP computer, and my friend has a Mac system. I have
a website and post mp3's onto a page for him, but for some reason they
won't play on his iPod. These are just ordinary mp3's downloaded off
the internet, and they all play fine on my PC's WinAmp player.

Folks,
I have an OS9 G4 Mac with Toast. Can I burn a CD of files from a mounted
network volume that would retain file/directory names longer than 31
characters (for use on Windows)?

Bypassing password on Mac Classic II01 May 2006 22:48 GMT3
My wife has a Mac Classic II with password protection (add on?). She
allowed our pre-teen daughter to play with it a while. The daughter
inadvertantly set a password for the system and cannot remember what it
is. This has angered my wife, as she cannot get access to anything on
Dell 2005FPW Monitor Problem01 May 2006 21:49 GMT10
Recently bought the Dell, new, & hooked it up to my G5, running OS
10.3.9. During boot-up, Mac's screens showed, but at end the screen was
black. Pushing selector buttons shows only #2 as having any kind of
signal, but it's in a seemingly endless self-test mode. #3 & #4 say no
Problem with configure01 May 2006 20:07 GMT2
I'm new to building software on Macs.  In fact, this question is about
building on someone else's Mac, because I don't normally have access to
one.  I have a software package written in C and built with the
standard GNU make utilities.  It compiles and links on GNU/Linux.  When
Finding items on the desktop by keyboard01 May 2006 19:20 GMT5
A couple of months ago I switched to OSX.
I'm still learning about the operating system.
However, there's one thing I still don't understand.
I have a lot of items on my desktop. In Windows I was able to locate an
"insufficient bandwidth" with iChat01 May 2006 18:03 GMT1
Hi everyone....
Me and my friend are both using the new intel MacBook Pro with Mac OS X
10.4.6 with iChat 3.1.4.  We are both using AIM accounts and cannot
establish either a Video or Audio conference with iChat because it
iMovie01 May 2006 10:27 GMT1
I actually installed iMovie for the first time ever the other
day. Why does the sound not play when I run my movies from my
Sony Cybershot camera (MPEG) in it? Sound is brilliant in QT.
What is going on, it is converting it to something and the sound

Can I hide my toolbar?01 May 2006 01:01 GMT7
I'd like to be able to hide it and when I glide my cursor up have it
appear, sort of like my dock. Can this be done?
