Is there an app or a program to monitor the status/signal strength of the wireless connection?07 May 2006 11:58 GMT1
I'm trying to test the reliability the wireless connection of my mac
mini. Sometimes it drops, sometime the signal strength is weak. Is there
an app or a program to monitor it? It would be ebst if it logs it to a
file or something else.
silly-assed question re: resizing text blocks in Illustrator06 May 2006 15:11 GMT5
It's pretty embarassing, as this sounds like one of the n00biest
questions ever -- one of the most embarassing questions I've ever had to
post -- and I've been using FreeHand _and_ Illustrator for at least 15
years. This is happening in Illustrator CS1 (been using it for about a
Holding list order when switching to col view05 May 2006 23:40 GMT6
When in list view of a disk or folder in X (Tiger), you can order
by date or kind etc. How is this done in column view? I tried
using the list view but the order is not held when switching?
Anyone please?
"Print WIndow" replacement05 May 2006 04:57 GMT1
I saw in a magazine that someone has created the OSX equivalent of the
OS 9 "Print Window" command but I can't find the reference.
Can anyone recommend such a program?

Disk Utility won't work - resource busy04 May 2006 23:59 GMT4
I keep trying to create a new disk image in Disk Utility (OSX 10.4.6)
but it won't let me - it keeps saying "Resource busy". What does this
mean? How can it be fixed?
Importing ACID files into GarageBand?04 May 2006 21:52 GMT3
GarageBand 3's Help states that GB can import "WAV (including Sony
ACID files)" by simply dragging them into a timeline.
As it turns out, Sony sent me a CD of WAV and ACID files from some sort of
promotion they were running. I can drag the WAV files, no problem, but the
Mail flag "!!"?04 May 2006 20:05 GMT8
In my 'sent' folder I have a message flagged with "!!". I can't recall
any special action I have taken with this message. Anyone knows what
this flag means? (can't find anything in Help).
MP3's and encoded sound level04 May 2006 08:49 GMT7
1: I have a hundred mp3 audio files and the sound level seems to
vary widely from minus to plus several db's (according to iTunes 'Get
Info')
I do not understand why this should happen on a digital system.
0SEx broken?04 May 2006 01:35 GMT1
I've been using 0SEx to rip audio from DVDs and also to copy some DVDs.
Suddenly I find that some of the newer releases don't work with 0SEx. If the DVD
is inserted (into an iBook running 10.4.4) prior to opening 0SEx, then 0SEx
won''t open. If 0SEx is already running, it closes.
syncing03 May 2006 20:27 GMT3
please tell me what *exactly* is syncing?  is it transfering files from
the harddrive/itunes to the ipod, or does it mean keeping a copy of
your music on itunes, and another copy on the ipod?  as a new user, im
confused, and i wanted to know also if you can store your music files
GarageBand: Getting volume back up03 May 2006 19:40 GMT5
I just tried using GarageBand for the first time since upgrading to 10.4
a few months back, and found a weird problem:  With every volume control
jacked up to the max, I can't get the volume up to more than a feeble level
that's only audible with my ears nearly next to the speakers ...

Pineapple News OS X posting problems03 May 2006 10:25 GMT1
If this post made it, it was using another news poster.
I'm registering Pineapple News if I can figure out why it will not post
all my messages.  May be just a busy Saturday afternoon.  I got a couple up
and then the errors started - here's the general error message from the
where can i get IE for os x?03 May 2006 05:18 GMT172
i just got a new iBook with Tiger, and i cannot for the life of me find
IE for OS X.  i know it's a dying critter, but it's still necessary at
times, especially for making sure webpages are working properly.  and
there are some pages that require IE to work at all; it's stupid, but
Mail.app: Harmful POP behavior ("account offline")02 May 2006 17:49 GMT3
If one of your POP accounts doesn't work once when you get your mail it
will be automatically turned off forever in Mail.app (until you turn it
on again).
This is a really harmful feature: It happened to me several times that
