Opening with Preview14 Jan 2006 13:55 GMT6
I am currently using an iBook G4 and normally when I view a pdf file
from the internet, it automatically opens with Preview.  However, a
few months ago, I installed Acrobat, only to decide that I liked
Preview better.  So I trashed the Adobe Acrobat program, but now,

I just ran DW 3.0.3 to rebuild my Hard drive directory for my Titanium
Powerbook (400mz, 640 MB ram, running 10.3.9).  The report said "It is
highly recommended that  you create 41 MB of contiguous free space
before replacing the original directory".

Managing Your Money [or eqivalent]13 Jan 2006 23:54 GMT18
I have been using "Managing Your Money" [MYM] for 15+ years and that is the
only reason why I still use Mac OS X's Classic mode.
I read that the new Macs will no longer allow Classic to run.
Any suggestions what to do? MYM is a perfect money manager and I don't feel
Touchet Baptist Church responsible for the hacking into my ibook?13 Jan 2006 20:45 GMT15

I did send the pastor a challenge to his KJV only views. Perhaps I
angered him, so he got my ip address from his server logs and found a
way into my ibook.  But no matter FireWall is on know son he wont do
Elastic Reality Replacement?13 Jan 2006 20:39 GMT1
Eventually, I shall purchase a new Mac, and it's clear that Classic
applications' days are numbered.  There are only two things I now
do in Classic: one is occasional Indeo video quicktime conversion
(since there seems to be no codec for OS X), but the other is
Stock Ticker Type Utility?13 Jan 2006 20:20 GMT1
Is there an application that can put a ticker on the desktop in OSX that
will list some stock indexes like the DJIA (Dow Jones Industrial
Average) and the NASDAQ along with the spot price for Gold and Oil. I
know Dashboard will do some of that under Tiger. Is there anything else
software education/academic discount13 Jan 2006 18:34 GMT3
To get an academic discount for software one must show student
identification. Is the user not allowed to use the software after he
graduates? It sounds like that's the case with Macromedia, at least,
because of this statement on their site: "Macromedia conducts periodic
iTunes keeps changing my song genre's!13 Jan 2006 16:56 GMT4

I downloaded and installed the 6.0.2 update to iTunes today.  Twice now
I've double-clicked a song to begin playing it, only to see it
disappear!  Turns out that iTunes changed the song's genre, and it was

Mail.app not powerful enough13 Jan 2006 07:20 GMT11
I find more and more that Mail.app is not powerful enough. I'd like to
be able to tag every e-mail with my own or predefined tags. Also, I need
to add priority levels and dates when a reply or reaction to the e-mail
is due.
Ebook Publishing13 Jan 2006 06:54 GMT4
Anybody use any ebook publishing software that they're happy with?
I want to layout the content in xhtml and need something to
pull it together, preferably with full/partial encryption,
key generation, and other standard ebook publishing capabilities.
