hello,  what program should a mac user use to compress  when uploading
large files to a newsgroup???

I want to convert a WMV file so that I can burn it with iDVD.
(I tried ffmpegx, and it acts like it's doing something and
chimes the dinner bell, but it doesn't write any files.)

I have been reading the previous thread that I started and there has
been some misunderstandings.  I apologize for my lack of communication.  
I DO USE a 256MB USB flash drive, and I do use my ibooks CD-R drive to
burn CD's.  I would never in a million years use a floppy over a CD ...

If I get a directory on my web browser (Safari) and want to download a
lot of files from it how is it done?  I don't want to use ftp.  
Right now all I can figure out is to open each link separately and then
drag/drop the result (jpegs) into a folder.  Since there are 18

I've got a few thousand MPEGS I want to transcode for viewing on an iPod.
I've tried Forty Two -- the automator support doesn't have settings for
the iPod, so I'd have to set each video up one at a time.  No thanks...
I've tried Podner.  Its OK but the videos come up really dark ...

Is there a way to save video from http://video.google.com/ ? The videos
download and play properly on my G5 iMac Tiger, but I would like to
save them to my hard drive. Suggestions? Thanks. Mike

Looking for an application that can export my emails 'and' attachments so
that I can import them into a Filemaker database.
Have used EEAX and EMA but they are too complicated to use on a regular
basis.

I have a film 16:9 formatted, want to burn a DVD in 4:3 (normal TV
screen)

How can I get Photo Quality Inkjet Paper to show up as one of the paper
choices in my Print box paper options for my Epson Stylus Photo 2200
inkjet printer?
There are only four paper choices available: Enhanced Matte, Velvet Fine

I'm using iTunes 6 for Windows.
I don't use or need the iTunes "Now Playing" window, in the lower left
corner of my iTunes window - also, it takes space away from my playlists
list - so I would like for it not to show up at all.   How can I keep it

Suddenly my application Across Lite (It's for displaying crossword
puzzles) won't open.  Instead I get the message
"Open Dictionary, Unable to read the dictionary of the application or
extension because it is not scriptable"

Can i burn avis, mpeg, mwvs directly to dvd on my iMac G5? Or are
there steps I need to perform before I can make that transfer?

How can I -- or *can* I -- capture streaming audio, viz. a short NPR
audio newsclip that comes in as a Windows Media Player file?
(The link initially offered me a choice of Real Player or WMP formats; I
chose the latter since then it seems to default to WMP without asking.)

If you open an individual record in the bibliographic database program
EndNote 8, so long as that (or any other) record remains open,
--all the EndNote menus are disabled (they're not grayed out,
 they don't drop down at all)

lately I've had several cases where I could see in the progress bar
that a particular piece of mail is being retrieved from the server..
but it doesn't show up in the Inbox (or in the Trash) of AppleMail.  If
