Looking for a stock ticker that stays on my screen31 Dec 2005 18:46 GMT3
I'd prefer something like the stoicks plug in for google's desktop or
an application I can just open an run an stays on my screen. Not
particularly enamored with Dashboard, so I doubt a widget is what I
seek.
iDVD, QuickTime, large files31 Dec 2005 15:58 GMT10
hi group. Happy New Year. I have large iMovie files, converted to iDVD.
I want to save space on my hard drives. Any ideas about how to do this.
i.e. disk image, archive of the iDVD files, or convert to QT?
I want to be able to burn the DVDs again and again, and not edit them.
remote control31 Dec 2005 15:06 GMT3
How about a remote control like the one for my CD player,
that plugs into a USB slot (or whatever) on the PowerBook,
and can be used like a CD player (pause, next, volume, etc.)

Hourly events on ICal?31 Dec 2005 05:19 GMT4
Hi all, kind of new to OSX. I'm wanting to set up an event that would
run hourly on ICal and it seems that I can only choose New Event, and
then set it up for daily or weekly, but not hourly.
I know I can do it manually, but that would take forever (even doing
Messages not deleting from Inbox on OSX Tiger and Mail.App31 Dec 2005 04:09 GMT1
I'm running into a VERy weird problem.  I got 5 spam messages, not an
uncommon thing, but when I select the 5 messages in the Inbox and click
delete, though they seem to be deleted the Message count on top of page
does not go down by 5.  I can click on any other mail folder and back

Problem with single name names in Address Book30 Dec 2005 20:12 GMT3
I have some coded addresses, like MKT for Marketing, which I store in
the "last name" field.  For some reason and, it seems, totally at
random, one or more of these will get duplicated in the "first name"
field.  It is a pain to have to go in and remove it.
iPhoto 2 to iPhoto 530 Dec 2005 20:03 GMT17
I'm planning to get a new Powerbook in the near future.  Currently I
have a 4-year-old TiBook, and I never updated by iLife apps, so I'm
still using iPhoto 2.  When I migrate to the new system, will my iPhoto
2 libraries be compatible with iPhoto 5?  If not, what will I need to ...
.mac account questions30 Dec 2005 19:40 GMT7
So for $99 a year is it worth it?
A rep at Apple told me that idisk under OSX is like a FTP server, except
it only works on macs and newer PC's, while FTP will work with anything.
So perhaps using iDisk over my FTP account will not be worth it.  Or was
Want to launch an accidentally quit app.30 Dec 2005 18:25 GMT2
I use an application, Quicksilver, running 24/7. I found the app quite
useful, but I see Quicksilver quietly quit when I want to use it. Is
there a way to detect any app quit and launch it automatically?
This question is not necessarily about Quicksilver, for any apps I keep

I have Mac OS X on my G5, but I have no "classic" CD30 Dec 2005 02:18 GMT5
Hi all, I purchased a used G5 for a great price.  Only problem is that
when I tried to run a game on it, the game wanted "classic" to be
installed.  So I tried switching to classic with the "9" in the top
right corner of the display, but it said it can't because the
OSX newsreader with crossposting filter + preview pane?29 Dec 2005 23:21 GMT1
If Unison would filter crossposted messages like MT-Newswatcher so I
didn't have to read the same messages in different groups over and over
that would be great.
If MT Newswatcher or Thoth had a preview pane like Unison so I could
