Best web browser and mail and news readers11 Nov 2005 13:55 GMT21
I am new to mac and I was wondering what is the best (mainly from security
and virus attachments point of view, but also for features and ease of use)
mail and news readers for mac. I have OS X 10.4 and that comes with
Entourage (MS Office). Having come from the Linux world, I am ...
audacity/itunes issue10 Nov 2005 18:58 GMT3
Anyone here using Audacity? When I create an AIFF or WAV file in
Audacity, I can't seem to import the file into iTunes. If I drag the
file to iTunes or try to add it to the library from within iTunes,
nothing happens -- no error message, nothing. The file just won't

will run under OSX?

Graphical FTP tool for OSX?10 Nov 2005 18:22 GMT44
What are my options for a graphical FTP interface for my Mac OSX box?
I've got to move files to a hosting provider who doesn't provide scp as
an option, and the command line is cumbersome for recursive directories
moves.  I guess I'm looking for something just like Rhinosoft's FTP

Apple burn forgets folder location10 Nov 2005 14:36 GMT1
I go thru a lot of work arranging folders and the list
views but when I burn them to CDrom, folder views and
arrangements are all wrong. If I burn with Toast, it
comes out right. Why can OsX-Tiger do it right?
"To Do" lists/reminder lists?10 Nov 2005 11:55 GMT4
I keep a personal "To Do" list or reminder list as a TextEdit document
that I keep open in the background, dragging and dropping items to
change their priority.
Can anyone recommend an application designed for this purpose that might
Remote support solutions: a problem in the Mac world10 Nov 2005 06:16 GMT4
I'd like to replace my mother's Win 98 box with a mini. The problem is
remote support. XP has built-in remote control software for parental
support (legend has it Gates' father demanded it).

Filtering Japanese spam10 Nov 2005 03:34 GMT3
I get a lot of spam from Japan. The subject line is filled with
non-ASCII, non-English characters.
Is there a way in Mail to filter mail messages based on such subject lines?

How to copy or image a CD10 Nov 2005 03:22 GMT4
I have purchased a $300 Rosetta Stone language program, but it
requires the language CD to be in at all times while in use.  Tried
to make an image with Toast 6.0, but the software didn't recognize
the image disk properly, only the real disk while in the drive.
Displaying your Desktop over iChat AV10 Nov 2005 01:52 GMT1
I came across an utility/driver/hack last year that let you choose your
graphics card as your Firewire camera in iChat.    That is, instead of
seeing your face, the other side saw what you were demonstrating on
your computer.   I think it required you to install iChatUSBCam but I'm
Suppressing Bookmarks Window in Acrobat?09 Nov 2005 20:47 GMT1
Documents opened in my copy of Acrobat 7.0 Standard for Mac have started
coming up with the Bookmarks window open on top of the document (at
least I think this just started happening recently).
Seems to be a (new?) default behavior:  If I uncheck the View ->
mp3 -> itunes title info incorrect09 Nov 2005 18:34 GMT5
I've purchased several CDs of old radio dramas (The Shadow, Zero Hour,
Flash Gordon, etc.) in MP3 format. When I look at the files in Windows
Explorer or iTunes "add files" dialogue, I see full and complete title info
