Quicktime trying to open up Firefox after restart14 Sep 2005 04:29 GMT1
I'm trying to check out a issue for my non-technically savvy
girlfriend.  She had to restart her powerbook without powering down
first due to a technical malfunction with her internal CD drive and
when it came back up again again, Firefox was unusable.
Importing Quicktime Movie into iMovie13 Sep 2005 21:36 GMT2
I've got several video clips that I've imported from an analog video
camera in quicktime format ranging from 1 to 8 gigs in length (imported
using Alchemy TV DVR).  I tried to import the first of them (about 2
gigs in size) into iMovie.  The file starts to import but when just
Open Terminal files with TextEdit?13 Sep 2005 21:29 GMT9
I want to read about shell programming without buying a book for now. My
thought was to capture the appropriate man pages in a file and use
TextEdit to read, search, further format and annotate them. So I
redirected the output of "man bash" to a file. The filename does not

widget question13 Sep 2005 12:34 GMT13
Having just tried Tiger for some week or so, curious about something.  The
widgets seem for the most part useless toys.  Disabled most of them.
However a couple of them can be handy at times.  The weather widget for
example.  Why does it not remember the zip code I type in?!  If I ...
Mail.app keyboard shortcuts?13 Sep 2005 12:29 GMT2
Every once in a while my wife will be reading her e-mail and my two year
old will sneak up behind and bang on the keyboard.  Sometimes this will
cause the current piece of mail she is reading to vanish.  And by that I
mean not in the Deleted folder, not in the trash, nowhere.  ...

Very simple audacity question12 Sep 2005 18:10 GMT3
I am very slow on figuring out even simple software - I want just to be
able to directly record online radio shows and music to my Mac
Powerbook G4. I downloaded Audacity and then opened a radio station on
iTunes. I  just hit "record" on audacity to try to pick up the signal
Free page layout program for mac?12 Sep 2005 18:03 GMT1
Not much familiarity with macs, need to pick this up quickly. What is a
good free page-layout program for macs? (for printing, not web).
Picture clipping12 Sep 2005 14:37 GMT5
A figure object extracted from a Powerpoint slide (sent to
me from a windows system) is labeled a "picture clipping"
by MAC OS9.2.  The format is not readable by
Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.
MT-NewsWatcher 3.4, osx12 Sep 2005 14:10 GMT12
Hi...
I've been annoying people on this group with OS X questions for a
week or so now, so I guess I'll try a slight riff on the vein.  I just
got a new iBook and am in the process of coming out of the 9.2 stoneage.
Audio Mastering Software for OS X?12 Sep 2005 09:30 GMT5
Can anyone recommend a good audio mastering app for OS X? I'm skittish
about BIAS Peak Pro because of all the negative reviews I've read about
it.
Thanks!
How do I figure out what command line ffmpegX is using?12 Sep 2005 02:01 GMT2
I'm using ffmpegX to convert some WMA files to MP3.  I'd really like to
know the command line equivalent of whatever ffmpegX is doing so that I
can write a little shell script to batch process rather than drag and
drop every file individually.  Is there any way for me to figure this
