I can't get a new install of viavoice to work under a fresh install of
tiger.
When I start the setupAssistant I can see in the console.log an error
from ArbitrationServer, and then when setup starts, it says it can

I have had an iMac for a while now, running Jaguar.  Now I also have a
new Powerbook, running Panther.  Not planning to upgrade the OS on the
iMac anytime soon, as I have a couple of external Firewire drives and
don't feel like taking the risk.

Or is there any add-on software that will allow me to do this?

If I click on a link, safari just downloads the linked file without
asking!  It's silly if I just want to know what's behind the link, see
the file name and type etc.  After knowing this I might want to download.
Can I somehow make safari ask for permission before it downloads the ...

I did a big bunch of scans and now find that the images are too small to
be OCR'rd. I tried increasing the scale with the simple apps available
to me and the OCR software still could not recognize them. What app is

In itunes 5, when I try to burn a CD, the iTunes window says "Checking
playlist..."  and for a CD with numerous tunes, this takes *a long
