Column order under window listview21 Jul 2005 15:09 GMT1
Is there a way to set the column order for all windows throughout your
computer in the listview? My computer defaults to filename -> date
modified -> size-> then kind. I would like all windows to put kind after
filename. Currently it is done a window at a time, but is there a way ...

Embarassing, but I don't see how to display the date somewhere near the time
along the top bar.  OS 10.3.9

Problem with Photoshop CS and iPhoto21 Jul 2005 04:50 GMT12
I do my image editing on a dual processor PowerMac G5 with 1GB RAM and
Mac OS X 10.4.2. I have the latest iPhoto 5. My problem is that I want
to set up iPhoto to edit files in Photoshop CS. With that in mind, I set
the iPhoto 5 preference to invoke Photoshop CS. When I ...
iTunes music recommendations21 Jul 2005 01:30 GMT4
Not sure where to post this. iTMS will give recommendations based on the
music in your cart. What would be more useful would be recommendations
based on the music in my library; or perhaps, at least, the music I've
purchased over time. Other than a good friend who shares my ...
Grapher (aka Curvus PRo X)20 Jul 2005 17:39 GMT1
Anyone have an old Curvus PRo X manual online? The apple help is not
very good. I tried to enter a Differential Equation similar to one of
the example files and could'[t get it to work! Kept getting "-- unknown"
errors
identd crisis20 Jul 2005 16:17 GMT4
I'm just getting started (or, trying to) with IRC.
I've installed ircle (I'm running OS X 10.4). I tried to connect to a
server on the Dalnet network, and it told me I need to enable identd.
I spent most of a day trying to do so, with no luck.
File type recognition app?20 Jul 2005 15:22 GMT13
A friend of mine is not so familiar with the shell, and some colleagues
of her send email attachments with no suffix .doc/.pdf/.sxi, and she
doesn't know how to handle them.
The solution would be to open a shell and use file FILENAME, but since
Griffin iMic and turntable20 Jul 2005 00:13 GMT3
Powermac G4, Digital Audio, OS 9.2.2
Sorry if this question is old stuff. The FAQ at Griffin's website says
you can't hook a turntable directly to the iMic - need a preamp between
the turntable and iMic. I've also heard that Final Vinyl  has a setting
The mysterious disappearance of Outlook Express mail accounts!?19 Jul 2005 00:49 GMT9
I've been using Outlook Express 4.5 with Mac OS9.1 for a long time and
have never had this problem before.
Since yesterday, 2 out of the 6 mail accounts I had in OE 4.5 have
disappeared!
Any decent RSS+Usenet readers?18 Jul 2005 21:00 GMT8
Are there any OSX apps out there that do a decent job of both RSS
aggregation and usenet reading?
I'm using Thunderbird at the moment, which is a bit sucky for both,
especially RSS-- at least the latest alpha has OPML import, but it's
Add Menus to Existing (Menu-less) DVD ?18 Jul 2005 18:06 GMT2
Is there any way to add menus and chapter/scene markers to a dvd that
doesn't have them...  particularly without recompressing and/or losing
any video/audio quality?  I have an hour long musical performance that
plays as a single movie (so to speak) with no way to skip forward song

suggestions for virtual windows18 Jul 2005 13:14 GMT1
I use Citydesk for one of my hobbies. This is a content management
system (CMS) for windows and I have to use it to be able to support
others in our assosation as well.
Now my new Mac is arriving shortly, I would like to have your opinion on
Photoshop Elements "342" files?17 Jul 2005 19:29 GMT3
What are the "some-subject-name-342" and "-342M" files that seem to
accumulate in a Photoshop Elements application support file after I do
some editing of images with "subject-name" file names?
Can I safely trash them, if I've Saved the associated images with any
QuickTime 6.0.3 for Classic17 Jul 2005 19:18 GMT2
I started up a Classic (OS 9) app and it warned me that QuickTime was
not up to date and I should get 6.0.3 from Apple's QuickTime web site.
But, when I go there, I can't find how to download that version, much
less how to make sure it goes into Classic only, and not OS X. Any
