Sorry, video is not supported for Macintosh computers at this time.18 May 2005 02:02 GMT28
"WINDOWS MEDIA TEST
Sorry, video is not supported for Macintosh computers at this time."
This is the message displayed by Safari if you try to play one of VH1's
videos from their artists pages.  This seems so ridiculous for a major
Free Mac Mini17 May 2005 21:04 GMT18
Gratis is giving away Mac Mini's.  Worth a shot.  Be nice to have a few
of these around the house.

Tiger: Double-Clicking Photoshop Files Does Not Open Them17 May 2005 16:03 GMT3
Double-clicking a Photoshop file in the Finder will launch Photoshop or
bring it to the front if it is already running, but the file will not
open. The same is true of dragging a Photoshop file to the PS icon in
the dock. The only way to open a file is via the menu within Photoshop.
MS Office won't install on G517 May 2005 04:49 GMT3
I used the Firewire option to transfer all of my files from the old Mac to
the new one.  Entourage was copied as well, but when I try to run it I get
an error message.  Re-installing or trying to run from the master disk gives
the same message, and the office setup assistant crashes ...
Problem with Tiger screensaver security17 May 2005 02:13 GMT4
I have the security setting on for requiring a password when waking or
turning off the screen saver. That seems to be no longer working. I tried
turning it off and turning the setting back on but that didn't work
either. It was working until today.
Converting CD tracks to MP317 May 2005 01:33 GMT3
I have just bought a cheap Disgo MP3 player (mainly because it was one
of the few which works under OS9 and mainly becuase it was cheap - thos
only 128mb but that's all I want, just a few tracks) and I want to
convert some of my CDs to MP3 format. Anyone tell me how? What software
ipod/itunes - can I tie 2 songs together?17 May 2005 01:12 GMT3
Wondering if there's a way to tell ipod/itunes to always play 2 songs
in succession.
I'm thinking for cases where there's a small intro song but it's on a
separate track.
Mathtype, Word 2004 and Tiger = problems?17 May 2005 01:03 GMT3
I'm suddenly having problems using Mathtype 5.1 with Word 2004 under
Tiger. I would have sworn this was working yesterday, but today:
If I double click on an embedded equation in word, it switched to
Mathtype just fine. However, if I use the "Insert->Equation Editor"

Weather Widget in Tiger16 May 2005 20:06 GMT36
I've just installed Tiger (very good so far), and I'm amazed to find
that the weather widget only gives weather in the USA.
I wonder if I'm missing some preference somewhere, or does Apple really
think that every single Mac user lives in America?  I live in England,
Tiger OS9 support, any way other than Apple KB suggested?16 May 2005 19:53 GMT11
Without any comment, I don't need any flames.

It simply says backup/format/install 10.2/upgrade to Tiger to have
classic support.

opening text files launches Stuffit Expander (Tiger)16 May 2005 19:12 GMT1
I recently installed Stuffit Expander (9.01) on my eMac running Tiger.
I changed some of the File Mapping preferences within the program so
that downloads from Safari would be automatically handled. However, I
now find that many text files will launch Expander where before they
Replacement App for OSX Address Book16 May 2005 18:46 GMT13
Is there a decent replacement application for the Address Book? Not
looking for "bells and whistles," but just for a basic listing of
addresses that can be printed on labels.
