File sync OS 9/OS X ?s06 May 2005 14:13 GMT1
Is there any software that provides file synchronization between a OS 9
and OS X computer?
Was going to try You Synchronize based on recommendations here but I
believe both computers must be running  OS X.
Tiger and Windows Media Player 906 May 2005 13:56 GMT5
I just installed OS 10.4 (Archive and Install) and all seemed well
until I attempted to open Windows Media Player. I get a message saying
that it, WMP,  has unexpectantly quit. Numerous attempts yields the
same result. This is true for new or old files. Any help? Thanks.
Using Older Retrospect For Backup In Tiger?06 May 2005 13:11 GMT8
I've seen posts about Retrospect 'not working' in Tiger.   ISTR my older
version (5.0.238 NOW) wouldn't work in Panther for a while.
The EMC/ Dantz Site [1] doesn't give many details.  Others seemed to say
the only way it'll work is to upgrade to the newest version.  That's
Quicksilver06 May 2005 12:50 GMT7
I've never used Quicksilver and now have Tiger with Spotlight installed.
But I notice that there is now a version of QS for 10.4.
What are the advantages of Quicksilver vs. Spotlight?  Is it worth
having both available?
Where to adjust print quality settings?06 May 2005 10:20 GMT4
I am printing on Epson Stylus Photo 820, mac osx 10.3.9 . I notice that
pages are coming very fast and print is poor quality, so it looks like
printer is set to draft mode or someting similar.
I print rarely and have forgotten how to increase the printing quality.
Safari on 10.3.9 w/ 2005-505 May 2005 22:30 GMT2
I recently upgraded my G4 desktop to 10.3.9 and today I downloaded the
two security updates 2005-004 and 005.
Sometime in the past few days something changed in Safari, I'm presuming
it was one of those changes.  I do know 10.3.9 moved to Safari 1.3 and
Front page and Mac05 May 2005 18:55 GMT2
My network administrator in his "bill gates" mentality, has made it
impossible to upload files to our web server without going through
Microsucks Front Page to login and enter user and password
information.  Any ideas how to work around this besides using front
Tiger: displaying apps on remote machine05 May 2005 18:12 GMT5

many others) to remote Mac machine running Tiger?.
Assumming I have two Macs, one is PowerMac G5, the other one is

Mysteriously Heavy CPU Useage05 May 2005 17:31 GMT22
I usually have a number Apps in my startup folder,
but after installing 10.4 I have been getting a very high CPU
usage as indicated by both CeePeeYou and ActivityMonitor.
I went to Accounts and shut all the Startup items down,
Newsgroup Providers of choice?05 May 2005 17:12 GMT5
I'm looking for a more complete new-server (using Thoth on OS 10.3.9)
and wanted to know what seeems to be some of the premium favorites. RR

Thanks...
X11 1.1 (Tiger) and Java Swing05 May 2005 15:03 GMT1
The X11 that comes with Tiger seems to have difficulty displaying at
least some remote Java Swing clients running in Linux.  What I'm seeing
is that the frame comes up at the smallest possible size, ignoring the
size specified by the client, and when expanded to a more reasonable
"Extended attributes"-aware Finder replacement for MacOS X.4?05 May 2005 08:40 GMT12
is there a Finder replacement for MacOS X which allows to actually use
the "extended attributes" of MacOS X.4 (aka "Tiger")?
I.e. define Attributes, assign values, show them in folder windows,
etc...
Entourage vs. Mail.app 2.0?05 May 2005 07:08 GMT3
I've been using Entourage for a long time, and I like it quite a bit.
Now that Mail.app has Spotlight searching, I'm taking another look at
it. What are some of the plusses and minuses of Mail.app 2.0 vs.
Entourage? Thanks in advance to all for any info.
Band-in-a-Box / Mac OS X 10.4, Tiger05 May 2005 04:49 GMT1
Almost no difficulties in the upgrade from Mac OS X10.3.9 to 10.4 with
the exception of Band-in-a-Box.
Upgraded my Midiman Midisport 4x4's driver to 10.3.9, as they have none
for 10.4.  It respond appropriately to Logic, many utilities, etc.
Tiger and Palm Desktop?05 May 2005 03:25 GMT2
What with the emphasis on the Address Book and iCal with Tiger, I'm
wondering whether they are still providing the Palm Desktop application?
If not, has anyone tried to make the Address Book and iCal work with a
Palm Pilot?  Or must I download something from the Palm website?
