Date format in several mac aps my preference03 Mar 2005 19:58 GMT3
I have changed my system dates to use the 24 hour clock, but the iCal,
iChat and some other aps still use AM and PM.  Is it possible to make
everything use 24 hour time or do I have to be satisfied with 12 hour
AM/PM for some applications?
Importing CD audio into GarageBand?03 Mar 2005 17:03 GMT2
OK, so I've been playing with iLife '05, and it's great.  iPhoto's upgrade
is worth the cost of admission by itself, but I'm beginning to really like
GarageBand.
One thing I'd like to do, and I can't see an obvious, non-annoying way
iMove Camcorder Compatibility Question03 Mar 2005 14:54 GMT4
Can someone comment on the compatibility of the Sony DCR-TRV480
Digital8 Handycam Camcorder with imovie?
I take note that the list of compatible camcorders on the Apple site is
way out of date.
HELP! Mail.app won't launch03 Mar 2005 11:26 GMT4

computers  . . .
ftp and keychain03 Mar 2005 06:15 GMT5
I have to let off some steam. I have tried two well-known FTP clients.
Both say they support the keychain. Neither retrieve my ftp passwords
from the keychain. It seems they only use the keychain for passwords
they made themselves, which defeats the purpose of having one keychain
A tiny conflict between Emacs and Butler (Mac OSX)03 Mar 2005 02:27 GMT7
From old unix days on vax/sun I am accustomed to using C-space to "set
mark" in emacs. However, when I tried this on my Mac (OSX, Carbon
Emacs), the command was intercepted by Butler which is also installed.
It never gets to Emacs.

Hi,
I'm trying to buy a router that will send a signal wirelessly to an
iMac.
Peculiar situation02 Mar 2005 19:38 GMT22
I recently bought a used software which apparently needs two
reigstration numbers and the previous owner duly gave me both.
Now when I run the sw and the activation scree comes up, one
box already has a number in it which I can't edit and which is
Batch conversion, WriteNow to PDF?02 Mar 2005 18:07 GMT3
I have a few hundred 15 to 20 year old WriteNow 4.0 documents
distributed in locations all over my Panther HD that I'd like to make
more readily accessible by converting to PDF documents.
I can open them individually in Classic mode, print to file, then
Cyrillic fonts have disappeared02 Mar 2005 17:07 GMT6
This is rather strange but all my Cyrillic fonts seem to have
disappeared, possibly as a result of upgrading to OS 10.3.7 (???). They
aren't in Font Book, tho they are there in Character
Palette->Unicode->Cyrillic (including some phenomenally obscure
is there a way to burn rm to DVD02 Mar 2005 16:36 GMT2
I am using Toast 6 on a LaCie dvd burner. Is there a way to burn a
video that is configured  in the RealMedia format to a DVD? LaCie
doesn't have an answer. Roxio doesn't have an answer. Is there other
software that is compatible that I can use on a iMac G5?
Application that give Instant word definition in Webpage02 Mar 2005 16:31 GMT2
Some of you may be interested in this free program

this while surfing the
web. I am not connected in anyway with this company and derive no
Diskwarrior failing?02 Mar 2005 03:09 GMT16
My mother's G3 (running 10.3.7) was getting pretty sick, so I tried to
use DiskWarrior to fix the directory.  No luck -- DW kept getting
partway through, and then hanging.
So I brought her computer to my home, and connected her to my dual G4
wi-fi Setup02 Mar 2005 02:47 GMT5
I'd like some help setting up my Powerbook, "tibook G4", 10.3.8 at
400mhz to surf the internet wirelessly.  We travel in a RV, and some
campgrounds have "Wi-Fi" available for our use.  Presently we use the
modem system, which is real slow.  It would be GREAT to be able to go
