Pages - give Apple feedback!06 Mar 2005 02:48 GMT16
Pages from iWork seems to be a very good application from playing with
it for some time. As a version 1.0 it still has minor shortcomings, but
Apple seems to be listening to feedback.
So may I suggest you use it and give Apple feedback.
Difference favoring 4D or FileMaker?05 Mar 2005 20:11 GMT45
Are there differences which favor 4D or FileMaker as a database? I'm
inheriting a DB from a Windows user who set it up in Access. I'm told it's

On the other hand, I've used MySQL databases from within PHP scripts. ...
Tiger's Dashboard: will it kill Sherlock?05 Mar 2005 20:08 GMT2
We all know what Sherlock is, IMO it's a very helpful app.  Now looking
at Tiger's Dashboard, which Steve Jobs announced and demonstrated at
both the '04 and '05 MacExpos - it looks like Dashboard's new widgets
that mimic and, in some cases, beat out Sherlock's own utlilities,

Mail.app Rules Won't Apply By Themselves05 Mar 2005 00:38 GMT7
I've got a rule in my Mail to run an applescript every time it gets an
E-Mail from a certain address.  I know the rule works, because when I
select the message and manually go to "Message -> Apply Rules," the
script executes just fine.  But it won't run without me doing that.
Validating Collections of URLs?04 Mar 2005 20:38 GMT3
Any advice on batch-validating large collections of URLs in Netscape 7,
or in URL Manager Pro, or in Safari, provided I can transfer the
collections of URLs back and forth between Safari and Netscape?
By "validating" I mean checking that the web page pointed to by the URL

How to Enter Chinese Characters into Sherlock's Translation Facility?04 Mar 2005 01:49 GMT11
How do you enter Chinese characters into Sherlock's "Translation"
facility?  I think I recall somebody saying that you use Pinyin, but
when I tried that, it didn't seem to recognize them as Chinese words.
For example, I tried "wo3 shi4 mei3 gou2 ren2," and it just came back
