Have they changed the microphone icons (on the machine itself) on newer Macs so that now they look like the volume icon? If not, why would I have a volume jack on my computer and no microphone jack?

| What SOUND CARD? What LINE IN? What TAPE OUT? | 13 Jan 2005 03:18 GMT | 4 |
I've been reading up on transfering albums to CD through my computer's CD-R burner, but I find myself wondering why I should attempt to master concepts like SOUND CARD when I can't find any sign of an "OUT" jack on my stereo. Neither my old Magnavox nor my 2-year-old AIWA ...

| Other sources of ITunes? | 13 Jan 2005 03:11 GMT | 5 |
Forgive me for using ITunes like a generic term. Are there other sources of music files compatible with ITunes (G5, Mac OSX) that work like the ITunes store? I like the fee-per-song payment structure but the ITunes Store is missing a LOT of stuff I'd like to get my hands on (from ...

I tried several Mac VNC clients attempting to connect to a PC that uses the TightVNC server on port 80. Neither VNCThing nor Chicken of the VNC was able to connect; they simply hung for a minute or so with the usual rainbow beachball, then timed out

| Stuffit applications won't open | 12 Jan 2005 21:06 GMT | 2 |
Seemingly out of the blue, all my stuffit applications - Expander, Drop Stuff, Drop Zip, etc. - stopped opening. They will appear in the dock, and flash as though opening, but will never actually open. I have to force-quit them. This was originally with version 8.2, and even ...

| iTunes: converting song creates two mp3 files ? | 12 Jan 2005 02:34 GMT | 4 |
I just recorded all of my cassette tapes into GarageBand, diced them up into individual songs, and exported those songs into iTunes in AIFF format. Once all the AIFF tracks were in iTunes, I went to the iTunes preferences to choose conversion "importing" to MP3 format. Then, I ...

| MacWrite(II) for Modern Macs? | 11 Jan 2005 21:58 GMT | 8 |
How would a modern Mac, running Mac OS X, read a MacWrite II file? It seems that AppleWorks 6.x doesn't read that old format. Free solutions are preferred. (For my immediate problem, I used a copy of the final version of WordPerfect, which I downloaded.) You can extend this
