Have they changed the microphone icons (on the machine itself) on newer
Macs so that now they look like the volume icon?  If not, why would I have
a volume jack on my computer and no microphone jack?

My niece, who has a emac, was given a webcam for xmas and she would
really like to use it in ms messenger (mac) but sadly the latest version
(4.0.1) does not support webcams which has left her very upset and he
uncle (me) has been given the task of sorting it out.

I've been reading up on transfering albums to CD through my computer's
CD-R burner, but I find myself wondering why I should attempt to master
concepts like SOUND CARD when I can't find any sign of an "OUT" jack on my

I tried several Mac VNC clients attempting to connect to a PC that uses
the TightVNC server on port 80.
Neither VNCThing nor Chicken of the VNC was able to connect; they simply
hung for a minute or so with the usual rainbow beachball, then timed out

I downloaded the new iTunes [4.7.1 (30)] and it refuses to play one of
the free song downloads from iTMS.  I detected the problem while
attempting to sync my iPod with iTunes after the update.  I moved the

playlist where I mix tracks from different albums. What I don't like is
that you can't delete the playlist by itself (the will still be on your

I just recorded all of my cassette tapes into GarageBand, diced them up into
individual songs, and exported those songs into iTunes in AIFF format.

In my mac OSX, I accidentally moved the desktop icon to the trash and I
can't seem to drag it out.  Can someone aid me in safely removing the
desktop icon from the trash?  Thanks.

I'd like to take a folder of .jpg files, shrink them down to thumbnail
size and put them all into one photo, like a page of thumbs all adjacent
to each other.  Can this be done in graphic converter or any other
