I format a cell currency as £ and save it in the new xlxs format. When I open up the file again the cell currency is now formatted as $ again Any ideas anyone ?

Like the when you open up 2004 and there is that one big spreadsheet? Where is it in 2008. It opens up with like a million tiny spreadsheets that are worthless to me.

I was recently sent a list of 250 names, addresses, etc., that I need to merge into form letters and labels. The info sent to me looks like this:

Is there a way to work around the fact that when I ask Excel to multiply 310,676 times 4.22 it gives me 1,310,000 (rather than the correct answer, ie, 1311052.72)?

I have been trying to type a win-loss record (e.g. 4-0) in excel but every time I type it excel automatically converts it to a date (4-0 goes to Apr-00). How can I change this unwanted autocorrect option*.
