We work with Windows and Mac and Windows SBS 2003. If I open a file in old xls format of the network, and i save the file, Excel show an error message. I cannot save the file once more, again an error message. In the new xlsx format this mistake does not appear.

I have my iMac set to stop font smoothing below 10pt. Excel 2008 seems to ignore this setting and I can find no way of changing this. The result is that speadsheets with fonts of 10pt look as though the ink has run! I am using Arial by the way. Can anyone shed any light on this?

I was rather hoping that 2008 would catch up with the Window version - and enable sheet tabs to be individually colour coded, but no. I suspect there is a technical reason which, as a programming/code/techno novice, I wouldn't understand - but (a) is there a fix out there somewhere
