| question on writing new XLM code | 29 Jan 2008 01:27 GMT | 2 |
I seem to have missed one key step in these discussions: Supposing I have Excel 2008, or even Excel2004, and want to write a new XLM macro. How do I create a MacroSheet (or convince Excel that I'm writing and XLM macro and want to execute it)?

| Undo function | 28 Jan 2008 22:06 GMT | 1 |
The undo icon only goes back once! I used to be able to reverse about 10 or 12 times on my PC version of excel. Am I missing something here or am I only allowed to make mistakes one at a time!

| Formula Bar changes between Excel 2004 and 2008 | 28 Jan 2008 21:12 GMT | 1 |
I notice a difference when typing items in the formula bar between 2004 which I like and 2008 which I can't get used to. in 2004 you type in an item to be calculated you had an X a Check mark and the the little calculator symbol. I never used the calculator symbol

| Visual Basic Error | 28 Jan 2008 20:24 GMT | 1 |
I get a "run-time error 1004 error" Method 'GetSaveAsFile' of object'_Application'failed.
This macro was created by what version I don't know. I've opened it and saved it to Excel 2004 for Mac.
Basically this sub should take data from an Excel spreadsheet and put it in a csv

I'm not a terribly computer-y person, so I may be asking questions that everyone else knows the answer to, but I need a bit of help.
I'm creating a spreadsheet in Excel hoping to use it to import data into another software program (retail POS).
The software I'm going to requires

| User Defined Fns. | 28 Jan 2008 16:55 GMT | 2 |
Does Office 2008 have the capability to let a user define functions that can then be used in a worksheet cell or stored in something like an add-in so that multiple workbooks can access it? For example, I normally use an add-in to give the properties of water/steam as a fn(P,T).

| Toolbars | 27 Jan 2008 09:57 GMT | 5 |
With Excel 11, (Excel 2004), Toolbars were not connected with any window. As far as I can tell they are with Excel 12 (Excel 2008), tied to each spreadsheet. I usually have 5-10 spreadsheets opened when I am using Excel for Income Tax Prep.
This seems to be a trend, as Apple does

| Change active cell border | 27 Jan 2008 07:53 GMT | 2 |
I can't believe I'm stumped on this, but I can't find it in Preferences or Help: how do i change the border of the active cell in Excel 2008 (that is, the selected cell or range)? I can hardly see which cell I'm on with the default "light blue on white background" dotted line, and

Older version of Excel through 11 have only allowed 4,000 cell formats. Does anyone know if MS has added to this number in version 12?

| Slow Scrolling with Excel 12 | 27 Jan 2008 04:34 GMT | 2 |
Is it normal for Excel 12 to scroll, page up, page down & other movements in a very slow manner. Using the arrow up & down keys has a 3-5 second delay before the highlighted cell moves. This is with a 2400 row by about 150 column spreadsheet. Larger than some but small in comparison

| logoff from excel | 26 Jan 2008 22:07 GMT | 2 |
I have a new IMAC 24 inch. When I use Excel, very often the computer goes to an empty light blue screen and from there to login, and of course I lose all that was not saved. It's impossible to use it. Any ideas? Tks.
