With the previous version of Excel the cell value would show the interim value during loop-driven calculations. I found this very useful to be able to see that things were actually happening and to monitor the progress of calculations.

Just installed Office 2004 on my MAC G4 running OS 10.4.4 No matter what I do, I can't format numbers into currency, or for that matter, any other format. Am very familiar with Excel, but this stumps me.

Command-F brings up "Find" in Excel for Mac. The "Find Next" button is highlighted. Is there a keystroke that one can invoke to highlight the "Close" button? I find it quite inconvenient to have to grab the mouse to push the "Close" button.
