Everytime I take a screenshot of a window and copy and paste I see a
black border. Why does SL do this and how can it be turned off? Tiger
did not act this way.

Windows virus on Mac?12 Mar 2010 09:14 GMT28
A friend says her Mac has a file (called TUD.EXE) in the recycle bin which
can't be deleted.
An online virus scan says it's a Win32 virus.  How can a Win32 file run on
her Mac?
Will someone squish this rumor about Apple, please?12 Mar 2010 08:18 GMT4
Will some here please kill this rumor for me?
There seems to be a mini-riot in a Speech Recognition
moderated forum that I frequent right now, about the
rumor that the 800 pound SR gorilla "Nuance" is ripe
Any 'default write' to stop the *.JPG.jpeg extension?12 Mar 2010 06:03 GMT17
Is there a preference or 'defaults write' command that can be used to
set the extension that Apple uses for newly-created JPEGs?  I
appreciate any help.
Older Powerbook System to USB?12 Mar 2010 05:49 GMT19
I need to migrate some files off of an older Powerbook (possibly a Wall
Street, but maybe a PDQ) which has the old-style Laptop PC Card slots.
Over the years, a number of accessories were produced to go into those
slots, including things like USB cards, WiFi cards, etc.

Dell Latitude D53107 Mar 2010 19:11 GMT1
The Dell Latitude D531 is a business notebook for the price conscious.
The two-tone black and grey casing is mostly grey on the exterior. The
Dell Latitude is powered by an AMD Turion processor, supported by 2GB
memory, while graphics are provided by ATI's Radeon 1270.

How common are MBP lemons?23 Jan 2010 00:12 GMT2
I recently installed my third logic board in a MBP.  The first one was
done under a recall, but this one wasn't.  About a week later one of my
fans went out.  I have had to replace one battery, but I consider that
to be fairly normal.  The HD and DVD have been fine, knock on wood ...

Mac Notebooks :  great . . . but keyboards stink14 Jan 2010 11:22 GMT9
Three of my sons are Mac enthusiasts. One gave me a Notebook for
Christmas.  Macs are of the finest construction and have
state-of-the-art electronics.  The OS 10.6 is much better than Windows ;
so much better that one of my sons, a computer programmer, uses it

NAS recommendations ?12 Mar 2010 15:57 GMT3
I am looking a various Network Attached Storage options and would like to
hear from people with experience in using them in a MAC environment.
I want a device that would support 4 SATA drives, but might start out with
just 2.  Other desired features:

How long can a MacBook work on power adaptor only?11 Mar 2010 18:39 GMT8

Recover data from Mac II HFS SCSI drive11 Mar 2010 11:04 GMT2
I have a Quantum Q 280 SCSI hard drive out of an original Mac II that
I want to get the files from. I eventually want to get the files to my
PowerBook G4 and as an intermediary machine I picked up a beige G3.
I selected this beige G3 because it has SCSI, ethernet, Safari and USB

Proposal for an iPad newsgroup12 Mar 2010 16:51 GMT42
This is a proposal for a newsgroup for Apple's iPad.  There has been some
discussion about it in various Apple related newsgroups (e.g.,
misc.phone.mobile.iphone, comp.sys.mac.system,and comp.sys.mac.comm), but
it is not fully applicable to any of them.

As often I am trying to help a friend whois across the Atlantic from me,
so it's entirely by phone. At times I sympathise with those who run help
desks, though I think her attempts to get help that way may have only
made things worse.

I am running OS 10.3.9 on a Blue and White G3. I have never been able

not sure what it is all about. Is there a messenger application named
Jabber or is a web system that monitors chat services so to speak. Do
Mac Mini. Can wireless networking be disabled completely?04 Mar 2010 21:15 GMT4
I need to get a new machine soon. Finances prohibit doing
anything adventurous. A Mac Mini would actually be more
powerful than my 6-year-old G5 (display, keyboard, etc.,
could just move over), and is very cheap. The Mini comes

router recommendation?23 Feb 2010 13:35 GMT8
A friend gave me what appears to be a precursor to an Airport Express
(the receipt is dated (2000).  At first it showed up on my MacBook but I
couldn't access it.  Now it does not even show up.  I'm thinking it's
not worth the trouble messing with it; I might as well buy something
