Had a strange thing happen. While within a folder of text files, I selected
a number of them to drag to another folder at the same time. The blank
'Spotlight' search icon in the upper right corner moved and then dropped
out of sight. Would a reboot bring it back? Suggestions. What ...

Hi again. Two part question:
1  What's a recommended app for defragging a Mac Pro?
2  How do you know if your machine is continuing to defrag itself, or
has for some reason just decided to hang forever and ever?

I have an old (circa 2001) 19" Mag Innovision CRT monitor that has served
me well throughout the years, up until very recently.
Ever since a recent move, it's like the picture is very /slightly/ out
of focus.  Almost like everything on the screen has an anti-alias

I've defined a group settings for fr.misc.finance (not
fr.misc.finance.*) with a different personality. But when I post in the
group fr.misc.finance.banque, the post inherit the personality defined
in the other group.

i'm trying to set up my old powermac as a dial-up internet and file
server... i want to be able to dial in from my macbook pro and get
(slow) access to my cable internet connection.  also, being able to
access the powermac's files would be a cool bonus.

I was trying a TRENDnet TEW-229UB 802.11b wireless LAN USB adapter on a
newer Mac and couldn't get it recognized.  I've tried WLan, as well as
some Zyadas chipset Mac drivers with no luck.  It just seems invisible
when its plugged in.
