Thought I¹d throw out a suggestion for creating simple macros in the Office
2008 apps. I¹ve been able to do this using Quickeys X3 version 3.2.1, a
comprehensive macro program which has vastly improved in usability since the
original version 3.0.  This program has a learning curve but it¹s not nearly
as complex as something like Applescript, I¹ve been happily using it since
the early 1990¹s and I¹m ³just an old country lawyer². Anyone who is an
³intermediate-level² or more experienced Mac user should have no trouble
learning to use it with a little patience. Among other things, it can create
floating toolbars to hold lots of macro buttons, along the same lines as the
Office 2004 apps.

(I have no connection with the publishers of the program.)

Thanks indeed, Ken!  I hadn't heard of QuicKeys in years; it's good to know
that it has vastly improved in usability. Years ago, in OS 8, I found
WestCode's OneClick more accessible and quicker to configure <nostalgic
sigh> -- but that application didn't last into OS 9.

I see there are good examples, reviews etc at

Oops, now it sounds like *I* am a shareholder!  But I'm a long, long way
away...

Ooh, nice suggestion. The ability to have a QuicKeys-specific toolbar
for shortcuts would certainly be nice.  I added QK and Keyboard Maestro
as possibilities for script replacements on the Word MVP site. Thanks, Ken.
