Can email distribution lists be too long?

If we try to send a message to two distribution lists, we get -- "An
unexpected error has occurred "- on a Microsoft Office Word dialogue box.  
We've not found any  the email addresses that are wrong.

Yes they can.  There is a limit in the RFC.  It's either 1024 or 2048
characters I think (wild guess...)

Check the RFC for a definitive answer.
