Create .docx file in Word 12.0.1 on Mac OS 10.5.2. Send the file to PC users (who are using their latest version of Word) -- random spaces disappear between words and spell-check doesn't recognize they have been lost. Spaces do not reappear when docs are sent back to my Mac. A PC colleague found this "solution":
I still can't explain it but I found a way to get spell/grammar check to find them. Select the text
on the Review ribbon / proofing area, set the language to English (it's a globe icon with a check mark in front of it) even if it's already set to English. Spell check then recognizes the errors.
Anyone else experiencing/solving this issue?

Yeah, it's a known bug in Office 2008.  We're waiting on a fix.

In the meantime, the Spelling Checker is the best way to find the problems
:-)

Cheers
