I am trying to indent the first line of a completed section of a resume but everything I do takes the whole paragraph with it and when I manipulate things around to get it close to where I want it, it again jumps out to the far left margin. I have tried everything I know how which isn't very much as this is the first time I am using Word.
Please help.

Have you tried format -> paragraph?  Somewhere in there is "first
line", which looks to be exactly what you want.

There are some markers on the top ruler that do the same thing, but
they are harder to describe (not harder to use).
