[Q] Chart text begin chopped off

Hi,

I've got a Word document with some pie charts in it. The charts have
been done using Word's charting mini-application (not Excel). On my Mac
OS 9 computer they work fine, but once I try to modify them under Mac
OS X the last few letters on the labels all get chopped off - no matter
what font I use.

Does anyone have any ideas what causes this and how to fix it??

Thanks.

I forgot to say the Mac OS X machines are using Office 2004, not the
brand new version.

That would be caused by the different text engine between OS 9 and OS X.

It does change the display of text just enough to be annoying.

There is no solution, other than to design your labels so these changes do
not show.

One problem I notice is that Word insists on a 20 pts "margin" on the inside
of text boxes.  That may be useful if you are going to add boxes, but if
not, you can remove the margin and avoid the cropping problem.

I don't use boxes on my labels, and leave each label transparent and a few
characters wider than it needs to be, so the variations from machine to
machine don't crunch the text.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately these pie charts are made using
Office's built-in Microsoft Graph application, so there are no text
boxes I can enlarge or change margins on. The labels are part of the
chart itself.

I did have an idea last night to add some extra spaces and a fullstop
onto the end of each label. I havent tried it yet, but it may cause the
misalignment of the label text and the percentage text.
