User Information Not Saving without Entourage

I've installed Office on a couple of systems without Entourage, as the
installs were meant for document editing, not personal information
management. However, information entered into User Information (for
change tracking, for instance) isn't being stored. The fields are
empty after I close and reopen preferences.

Do I really have to install Entourage and set up identities for Word
to be aware of basic user info, or us this a bug that I'm
misinterpreting and can be dealt with differently?

The user information *is* saved as the Me contact in Entourage, and Word
and Entourage are pretty tightly integrated, so it is better to install
them both. But I would expect there's a fallback method too. Perhaps
something is interfering with that method.

Are other preferences being saved?

What information gets used when you actually track some changes on one
of these systems?

Can you see if the same problem occurs when you set up a fresh clean
identity on one of the problem computers?

Check that you have not enabled Word>Preferences>Remove personal information
from this file on Save.

If you have, it DOES remove this information every time you save :-)

Cheers
