Dear All

SOS!  the Office 2003 Service Pack 3 (SP3): MAINSP3 was installed via auto
update onto my computer.

After that MS word cannot start up as per normal.  The error message
gernerated is : "MS Office Word has encountered a problem and need to close.".

After checking the box "Recover my work and restart MS Office Word" the
programme can only start in the SAFE mode, in which many functions cannot be
used.

I have done the following:

1.  Reboot my system.  Same Problem occured.

2.  Uninstalled and reinstalled MS Office 2003.  I tried to cancel the auto
update but it comes back itself.  I have done this procedure 5 times!

Really really appreciate if someone can advise me as to what to do?  I am
extremely dependent on MS Word for my work .......

Have a nice day and hope to hear from someone soon!

You've landed in a discussion group for users of Mac versions of Word (not
your fault: the interface is badly designed). Your query involves aspects of
configurations that in Mac versions are different from the PC versions.

Although there are several people here who are experts in both Mac and PC
and they may come by soon, you're likely to get quicker results in a
specialized discussion group for PC Word. Start here:

Hi Kiko:

As Clive says, you need to go off to the PC Word user group.  The good folks
there should be well prepared to help you, since they have just had an
extensive briefing on the subject.

Office 2003 SP3 is going to be troublesome for some users: yours is the
first of many such posts we can expect.  The service pack cranks up the
level of security, and in doing so, it is going to break certain things
users have come to rely on.  (It shouldn't actually stop the application
from starting, however...)

Cheers
